A winch turning a fusee. A chain transferring energy to a drum. A mainspring in the drum storing the energy and retransmitting a constant force, via the chain and fusee, to the movement. The technology was developed in the 15th century, but never before has it been so spectacularly used in a timepiece. 

Miniaturization of exacting precision that defies the traditions of watchmaking. But it didn’t stop there. The amazing mechanism is housed in a magnificently sculptured case with twin crystals providing astonishing views of the vertical movement inside. Capstans on the sides. Vertically-mounted wheels suspended in the air. Drums to indicate time. And a vertical tourbillon to provide the incredible precision desired. 

PRECISION DEFINED ...PRECISION ACHIEVED

The movement, engineered by Eric Coudray, is amazingly precise. The miniature chain and fusee perfectly compensate for the loss of torque in the mainspring and deliver a constant force to the vertical tourbillon. 

Tourbillons are well-known instruments to compensate for the margin difference in vertical positions. But a tourbillon is only effective if it is vertical, between 30° and 150° of inclination. Cabestan’s vertical tourbillon provides unparalleled accuracy, every second, every day.
