Malaysia: Breguet Through The Time

On October 24, 2013 Breguet organized a private evening for some VIP clients in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. After a gastronomic dinner, guests were invited to a presentation of the House, its history and creations. Among its key pieces, Breguet introduced the “Reine de Naples” 8928, a timepiece created in 2012 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the “Reine de Naples” collection and the 200th anniversary of the delivery of the first wristwatch made by Abraham-Louis Breguet for Napoleon Bonaparte’s sister, Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples.

Elegant and refined, the timepiece 8928 in rose gold inherits the family traits of the “Reine de Naples” collection, notably the ball attachment at 6 o'clock and the winding crown set with a cabochon at 4 o'clock. Revealing a mother of pearl dial, this model has minutes and hours hands off-centre at 6 o'clock. Since all Breguet timepieces are only fitted with mechanical movements, this watch is powered by the self-winding calibre 586 with a Swiss in-line lever escapement and a silicon balance-spring.

Like Caroline Murat, other famous clients such as Marie Antoinette, Queen of France, the Marquise de Condorcet and even the Empress Joséphine succumbed to the charm of Breguet’s creations. Since 1775, the Manufacture uses its watchmaking and jewellery expertise at the service of women and has no lack of ingenuity to fill their most subtle desires.
