Behrens Apolar

“BEHRENS” is a small independent watch brand focusing on design and develop modification of movements by constructing in-house mechanical module to offer a varieties functional time display. From which our main concept is to display time in an all new non-tradition way and to be creative.

B020 - "APOLAR" Series is one our latest creation. It is a mechanical wristwatch we have developed base on the inspiration from the orbit relationship between 'Earth & Moon'. From which we have constructed this model based on a Swiss Made 'ETA' Cal.2824 automatic movement. From there, the 1st layer which is a dial with the colour inspired by the sky (blue) and on top we presented the mechanical ‘Earth’ and ‘Moon’ both by using spherical design to give the watch better 3-dimensional visual effect while being functional at the same time.

Functionally, the key design for this B020 APOLAR series is that the dome shaped globe (Earth) on the dial at 12:00 position rotates once every 24 hours, meaning that it represents as a 24-hour indicator. On the other hand, the small spherical globe attached to the ‘sloped’ large rotating metal ring (held and turned by 3 gears) represent the Moon which will rotate around the Earth in a 28-Days cycle (*** It takes 27.32 days for moon to rotates around the Earth per cycle). In the Center of the dial, there is a 2-pointer hand to represent the time in seconds. Whereas the time in ‘Hours’ and ‘Minutes’ are being displayed by the 2 decentralized metal discs located at 7:00 and 5:00 position, respectively. The "Apolar" with its unique design offers a new aspect of telling time and may set a milestone in the watch designing concept.
