He held on to it and concretises in the form of his latest timekeeper for the Only Watch charity auction, namely the Galet Classic Only Watch.

In line with his principles, Laurent Ferrier launches his latest work, which will delight the connoisseurs on the occasion of its presentation at Only Watch. The watchmaker, inspired by the famous cause tied to this charity auction, designed a watch which has an imposing symbolic impact. Indeed, this unique edition of the Galet Classic is intrinsically linked with the event’s essence.

For the Only Watch 2013, he is donating the very first movement of the second version of his famous Tourbillon Double Spiral. It is the caliber «000». This original caliber is embedded in a steel runner displaying an extraordinary Grand Feu enamel dial on «sand» tones from which emerges a beautiful dove. On the small seconds hand, the Monaco’s shield motif is subtly painted in matching shades.

Once again, Laurent Ferrier proves his willingness and aptitude to manufacture symbolic pieces while favouring the «custom-made» mode which remains open to unique circumstances. Loyal to a complication stemming from a craftsmanship more than 200 years old, imagined by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1801, the Galet Classic Only Watch follows an avant-garde procedure that ensures it possesses outstanding chronometric values.

This tourbillon is complemented with two inverted balance-springs at the centre of the balance. The advantage of such a construction is that the balance’s centre is held on its axis while mitigating the effects of gravitation. Consequently, its regulation system is extremely consistent.

15-months research

This is the amount of time it took Laurent Ferrier to study the new version of his initial calibre. In this 2013 edition, the general principle is not altered since it has proved to be a feat; however, the techniques have been improved, the constructions have been interpreted and subtly refined. Just like with any racing device, the performance is obtained by every minute detail.
