Ahmed Seddiqi Launches Its First Boutique Outside of the UAE

The luxury watch and jewelry retailer cuts the ribbon on a boutique in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

There’s no argument that the luxury watch and jewelry retailer Ahmed Seddiqi has gone above and beyond in promoting the culture of watchmaking and collecting in the United Arab Emirates.

Since opening its first boutique in 1950, Seddiqi has helped shape the region’s passion for horology by championing inventive independent brands in its boutiques. Moreover, through its flagship event, Dubai Watch Week, the retailer has also built an appreciation for innovative watchmaking among audiences around the world.

Given its global reach, it’s surprising that the retailer doesn’t have any outposts outside of the UAE. Well, until now, that is. Ahmed Seddiqi has just announced the opening of a boutique in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Magic Kingdom

Located on the prestigious Tahliah Street in Riyadh, the first Ahmed Seddiqi stand-alone boutique marks a big milestone in the brand’s 75-year history, expanding on the retailer’s commitment to offering a carefully curated collection of timepieces and jewelry as well as an immersive shopping experience.

Let’s start with the space. The 4,400-square-foot boutique is large enough to showcase over 25 of the world’s leading watch and jewelry brands (more on that later) and features dedicated floors for watches and jewelry, branded shop-in-shop areas, four VIP rooms for exclusive appointments, and a hospitality area.

Still a family-run business, Seddiqi knows a thing or two about building new relationships as well as forming intergenerational ties. According to Mohammed Abdulmagied Seddiqi, Chief Executive Officer at Ahmed Seddiqi, “Our expansion into KSA is an incredibly exciting chapter for our family business. Saudi Arabia is a natural extension for us as we continue to curate extraordinary experiences and introduce the finest selection of global brands via local market insights and building trusted relationships.”

Natural Selection

Ahmed Seddiqi built its reputation by offering a thoughtful selection of timepieces from international luxury Maisons, and the new Riyadh boutique is no exception. For example, the new boutique will showcase models from renowned historic houses of horology, such as Girard-Perregaux and Ulysse Nardin.

These are a good fit for the new boutique because one of the reasons both legacy brands remain relevant to modern collectors is that they embrace avant-garde design and technology. This mix of heritage and progressive horological expression is reflected in the Seddiqi style of curation.

Ahmed Seddiqi is also committed to putting independent brands front and center in the Riyadh boutique. This diversity offers clients a variety of styles and functions, from Bremont’s sporty goodness to Ressence’s unique minimalistic style to H. Moser & Cie.’s inventive designs and complications.

In the jewelry category, standouts include Palmiero and Picchiotti – two Italian jewelry brands that are also making their debut in the Kingdom with this boutique.

As Abdul Hamied Seddiqi, Chairman of Seddiqi Holding, explained in a press release about the expansion, “Our goal is to build a destination that will inspire the discerning clientele and welcome them to further explore and engage with a curated portfolio.”

Finally, via an on-site watch technician, the new boutique will also be an extension of Seddiqi’s after-sales expertise at the Swiss Watch Services center in Dubai, which is the largest independent after-sales center of its kind. So, KSA clients will have someone trusted to turn to should they need any immediate servicing of their timepiece.
