Home to the self-winding HW100 mechanical movement, itself derived from a GP3300 (Girard Perregaux) base movement enriched by an additional AGH2841 (Agenhor) module exclusive to the brand, this Harry Winston Ocean Dual Time Monochrome affirms, with its 28’000 vibrations per hour and 272 components (including 35 rubies), the high horology status of a brand which had for a long time only been part of the jewellery universe.
The contemporary homo mobile, an inveterate traveller, who swallows up miles or is simply connected to a single destination on the globe, will fall for it as it exudes a spirit of practicality sprinkled with poetry.
Functional and water-resistant to 100 metres, this device, measuring time that moves beyond the oceans, invites one to view, through its sapphire glass, a range of useful information: the hours and minutes of two distinct time zones, each equipped with its own dial of individual size; the large date, whose verticality prevents any kind of confusion with the hours numbers laid in a circle; a day/night indicator of the time at place of departure and destination, quite rare on a traditional GMT; finally, a power reserve indicator whose form is reminiscent of a shuriken.
If we want to focus on other strong symbols: its monochrome dial covered with a layer of hand-dated platinum maliciously teases the patine du temps effect while its ZaliumTM case - 44 mm in diameter - is intimate with timelessness.
In fact, this material, patented by Harry Winston, is a unique aluminium and zirconium alloy which has as characteristics both lightness and extremely high resistance to corrosion. Everything about this new 2013 model encourages one to live a change of scenery without losing one’s temporal bearings nor the ties to a life for the moment left behind.
