An Argument for Purple Dials with NORQAIN’s Adventure Sport

Released earlier this March, this Adventure Sport 37mm featuring a rarely seen purple dial instantly had me wondering, “Where are all the other watches featuring purple dials and bezels?”

It’s no secret that colorful dials are here to stay, but purple seems to be the most overlooked color of the rainbow when looking at the market for colored dials.

So, when I saw this Adventure Sport 37mm, more questions than answers ensued, with one being, what emboldened NORQAIN to create such a piece?

The Details

Having all the treasured hallmarks of NORQAIN’s Adventure Sport line, this sporty 37mm novelty features a 38-hour power reserve, water resistance up to 100 meters, and a scratch-proof sapphire crystal. Truly made for daily or once-in-a-lifetime adventures, the purple-dialed Adventure Sport model lives up to the collection’s name.

If it’s not the only automatic tool watch featuring a purple dial, the argument is evident by the watch’s aesthetics. The gold indices and steel bracelet are contrasted nicely by the eye-catching patterned dial and unidirectional matching purple bezel.

Is Purple Promising?

At first glance, I was immediately drawn to its purple dial and bezel. I quickly racked my brain to think of any other purple dial timepieces but had a hard time thinking of one, especially in the category of sports watches.

With so much emphasis this past year on dials featuring hues of blue or green, it is refreshing to see a watchmaker go for something different. When asked about the color choice, Caroline Küffer, NORQAIN’s Marketing Director, stated, “We chose purple because it’s emblematic of International Women’s Day, and it’s such a positive and fun color.”
