Red ceramic for the Hublot Classic Fusion Only Watch 2013
This year at Only Watch, Hublot presents its latest manufacture as a world premiere; the unique Red'n'Black Skeleton Tourbillon.
“Without innovation, there is no future”, states Jean-Claude Biver, President of the Hublot board of directors. Rightly so, as the brand is always on the very edge of original creations. The Red'n'Black Skeleton Tourbillon is a watchmaking feat and pays a nice tribute to the Only Watch charity auction through the choice of the red ceramic, a reference to the organiser, the principality of Monaco.
As a reminder this event is organized by Luc Pettavino, president of the Monaco Association against Muscular Dystrophies, for the past five years.
Prestigious exclusivity: the first bright coloured ceramic
This new watch was internationally patented in order to protect the discovery of the red ceramic, a true revelation for the watchmaking world. It is the first time that the procedure to be followed concerning the making of bright-coloured ceramic has been discovered. This speaks volumes about the creative capacity, characteristic of Hublot. Obviously, such a feat was only possible after several months of research at the R&D department of its Swiss foundry. For the occasion, a bezel in the new found red material has been manufactured.
However, the style remains close to the Hublot standards, namely a classic black look. Entirely developed and manufactured by the brand’s expert watchmakers, other details concerning this watch include: a black ceramic case, polished and satiny, a wholly openworked tourbillon movement in a determinedly distinguished and contemporary style, and a power reserve of 5 days.
In regards to the new red ceramic, the tourbillon has been raised with a little red anodised aluminium ring while the black alligator strap has been sewn on black flexible and pleasant-to-wear rubber.
At the end of the day, this exclusive piece is a mixture of tradition and modernity, of crafts and innovation. Other than that, it particularly suits the Principality of Monaco where Only Watch originates and is organised.
