TAG Heuer’s Birthday Celebrations Continue With A Stunning Re-Edition Of The Heuer Montreal
Following the success of the Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition released during the LVMH Watch Week in Dubai, TAG Heuer returns with a second collector’s edition.
TAG Heuer kicked off its 160th anniversary year with an attractive 1,860-piece Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition in January (read HERE), just before COVID-19 put the kibosh on the birthday celebrations. But it seems that it will take more than a novel coronavirus to ruin festivities. Because the moment confinement restrictions were eased in Switzerland, Watchonista received an invitation to a private presentation at the brand’s Geneva boutique to see a second limited-edition anniversary timepiece.
The TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition
This second collector’s edition is the TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition. It is a re-edition inspired by the 1972 White Heuer Montreal timepiece (reference 110503W). The Montreal collection of automatic Heuer chronographs was launched in 1972, the most famous of which was this White Heuer Montreal timepiece. Today, it is a highly sought-after timepiece due to its rarity.
A Fusion Of Designs
This new TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition combines the aesthetic of the White Heuer Montreal dial with the iconic Carrera good looks. Housed in a 39mm Carrera stainless steel case, the timepiece features a dial that calls upon the same palette of colors as the original with a white dial and three blue counters. The dial also has touches of red lacquer (for the central chronograph seconds hand) and yellow Super-LumiNova (for the central minute and hour hands). It is fitted with a box sapphire crystal and is paired with an elegant blue alligator leather strap.
A Splash Of Color
“The Heritage Department selected the white Montreal design to mark TAG Heuer’s anniversary year because the piece is pure beauty, and the colorful dial is full of joy. We played with the existing design codes and brought them to life in a bold new way, merging them with the Carrera spirit and breaking the rules in true TAG Heuer fashion,” says Catherine Eberle-Devaux, TAG Heuer Heritage Director.
Vintage On the Outside, High-Tech On The Inside
The TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition may have a vintage look on the outside, but the inside features the brand’s most advanced technology with the Caliber Heuer 02. Designed and developed in-house at the brand’s Chevenez manufacture, the caliber is comprised of 168 components and includes a column wheel, a vertical clutch, and boasts an impressive 80 hours of power reserve.
Limited To 1,000 Pieces
This second collector’s edition is priced at $6,750 and limited to 1,000 pieces. Each piece comes packaged in a special anniversary box. It is available exclusively in TAG Heuer boutiques, online at tagheuer.com in select countries from July 2020.
There is more news of other anniversary editions to come, so let the party continue!
