Raiders of the Lost Art: Favre Leuba adds a Two-Tone Day Date to its Deep Raider Collection

Fans of Favre Leuba, one of the oldest names in Swiss watchmaking, may have noticed that the brand has been busy welcoming new models of its Deep Raider dive watches to its catalog.

However, the collection’s rebirth began with last year’s Favre Leuba Deep Raider Renaissance and has continued throughout 2026 with the recent additions of the Deep Raider Power Reserve and the Deep Raider Revival Orange.

The latest members of Favre Leuba’s Raider team are the Deep Raider Day Date two-tone editions.

The rationale behind all these launches is rooted in the watchmaker’s own revival. Like many legacy watchmakers, Favre Leuba didn’t escape the Quartz Crisis unscathed.

And while the brand never completely disappeared, the name was bandied about by different investors until 2024, when it relaunched with three watch collections, each taking inspiration from the maison’s sportier, mid-century offerings: The Sea Sky chronograph, the Chronograph (now known as the Chief) and the Deep Blue (renamed the Deep Raider).
 

For vintage enthusiasts, the Deep Blue is the most collectible Favre Leuba reference. It debuted in 1964 and was a successful entry in the burgeoning market for dive watches. With a depth rating of 200 meters and an automatic FL 1152 calibre developed in partnership with four other brands, the watch was competitive and popular.
 

After being mothballed for a few decades, it makes sense that the brand would want to make up for lost time by aggressively expanding the current Deep Raiders collection. As Favre Leuba CEO Patrik Hoffmann stated earlier this year: “Following the expansion of the Chief collection in 2025, 2026 marks a renewed focus on the Deep Raider.”

Each of the 2026 Deep Raider models offers something different for dive enthusiasts; however, the Deep Raider Day Date broadens the collection’s appeal, as it is an ideal daily wearer with the added functionality of a day-date complication.

It’s also important to note that each new edition in the Deep Raider family comes with a distinct aesthetic. So, while earlier Day Date pieces in the Deep Raider collection were presented in steel, these new Deep Raider Day Dates feature a two-tone finish.
 

More specifically, the crown and bezel have a yellow-gold treatment, applied through physical vapor deposition (PVD). Additionally, the central links of the integrated bracelet have been given this multi-hued treatment. These elements also combine brushed and polished finishes.

“Rooted in our 1964 Deep Blue, the [Deep Raider] collection represents our commitment to purposeful, performance-driven watchmaking,” stated Hoffman in a press release earlier this year. Thus, the performance features of the new 40mm Deep Raider Day Date two-tone editions include water resistance to 300 meters (suitable for professional diving) and a unidirectional rotating bezel with a ceramic insert that has a 60-minute dive-timer scale.
 

The bracelet features tool-free interchangeability, allowing the wearer to easily switch between the two-tone bracelet and any other bracelet or rubber strap from the Deep Raider Renaissance collection. And the dials are made sandwich-style, incorporating a base layer of lume to ensure bright, consistent illumination in low-light conditions.

And finally, proving that it’s more than just a pretty, retro face, the Deep Raider Day Date is powered by the self-winding FLD05 calibre (Sellita SW220-1) with a frequency of 28,800 per hour.

Available now, this trio of new 40mm Deep Raider Day Date two-tone editions comes in three dial colorways with matching bezels – blue, green, or black – and each is priced at $2,700.
