At Watches & Wonders in Geneva, watchmaker Panerai paid tribute to the Radiomir timepiece with a raft of stunning new wristwatches aimed to demonstrate the brand’s vision for the future of the popular platform.

But Panerai is, well, Panerai, and it shouldn’t be too big a surprise that even more fruits from its designers’ workshop have already been announced. Earlier today, in fact.

Specifically, the brand brought out the new members of the 40mm Radiomir Quaranta line to take their bow at Milan Design Week, where no fewer than five executions of the Radiomir Quaranta were unveiled; four in steel and one in glimmering yellow gold. And all point to the flexible classicism this watch, first introduced in 1935, carries with it.

Here are some highlights from today’s debuts.

Golden Hour

While the red gold 40mm Panerai Radiomir Quaranta Goldtech made its debut in Geneva, its yellow gold sister, the Radiomir Quaranta Yellow Gold (PAM01437), made a more-fashionable entrance in Milan.

Based on the three-day power reserve P.900 automatic calibre (as are all these new models), the timeless yellow gold case, prominent crown, and lugs work ever-so-nicely. And with only a little date window at 3 o’clock, two hands, bar and Arabic indices, and a small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock occupying the face, the PAM01437’s stunning deep green sun-brushed dial has enough real estate to really shimmer in the light.

Coming on an elegant semi-matte black alligator strap with gold buckle, the Radiomir Quaranta Yellow Gold makes an undeniably elegant entrance.

Steely Sophistication

Meanwhile, the four new Radiomir Quaranta options in 40mm polished steel case debuted in Milan utilize a variety of classically inspired color and material combinations to give each model its own distinct flavor and zeitgeist.

First, the colorway of the Quaranta model with the gleaming white dial and gold furnishings (PAM01292) will be very familiar to fans of the Radiomir, offering a clean but modern take on the 40mm steel classic on an equally classic brown alligator strap.

Next, with a blue-and-gold dial theme, the PAM01293 is perhaps the most nautical of the group, and the polished steel case, bezel, and caseback naturally play off the sun-brushed deep blue dial. Moreover, the gold accents (in the form of hands for the hour, minute, and small seconds sub-dial) add an extra dash of after-six sophistication, especially on its dark blue, color-matched alligator strap.

Then, when we consider the qualities of sheer evening sophistication and all-day style, the PAM01294’s anthracite dial with gold accents takes the “Bond, James Bond” prize for intrigue and elegance. Coming on a black alligator dial, it is a profound statement in timeless style.

Lastly, in an e-commerce-only exclusive, the steel PAM01386 features the same stunning green dial as the Radiomir Quaranta Yellow Gold to create an eye-popping execution. Plus, with its additional gold tone underpinnings on the dial and dark brown alligator strap, this version might be the leader of the pack.
