The Laureato Chronograph 42mm is not merely an evolution – it is a confident statement of balance and intent. In this latest interpretation, Girard-Perregaux revisits the bold aesthetic codes of the 1970s, introducing a nuanced two-tone composition that merges sportiness with understated elegance in a highly controlled design language.

With its 42mm profile and integrated rubber strap, the watch embodies a versatile, contemporary vision of haute horlogerie – one designed as much for daily wear as for connoisseur appreciation, where comfort, durability, and visual refinement coexist seamlessly.

A Dialogue Between Past and Present

Drawing inspiration from the decade of its birth, the Laureato embraces the return of two-tone design with subtlety and restraint. The tonneau-shaped case in 904L steel forms a robust architectural base with enhanced corrosion resistance, while rose gold accents on the octagonal bezel, crown, and pushers introduce warmth, contrast, and a touch of classical luxury.

This interplay continues on the wrist with clear coherence. Replacing the traditional metal bracelet, a brown rubber strap with a Clou de Paris hobnail pattern enhances this piece’s ergonomics and sense of modernity while maintaining a strong visual identity tied to the dial. The supple material adapts naturally to the wrist, ensuring lasting comfort.

The result is a watch that feels contemporary and practical without losing its historical resonance.

The Essence of the Laureato

First introduced in 1975, the Laureato has become one of the purest expressions of Girard-Perregaux’s design language and creative philosophy. Its defining codes – the circular base, octagonal bezel, and blend of angular precision with curved elegance – create a silhouette that is instantly recognizable and well balanced.

This latest chronograph iteration preserves that identity while refining its proportions and improving wearability. At just 12.16mm thick, the case offers a comfortable presence on the wrist, suited to a variety of occasions. These subtle evolutions reinforce the collection’s reputation for combining precision engineering with timeless design, ensuring its continued relevance.

A Dial of Warm Precision

The mocha brown dial, adorned with the same Clou de Paris motif as the strap, adds depth and texture while complementing the rose-gold elements in visual harmony. The hobnail pattern plays with light, creating subtle reflections that enhance richness without compromising clarity.

Each element is precisely proportioned, keeping the dial both functional and refined. For example, baton-style hour markers and hands, treated with a luminescent material, ensure strong legibility under varying conditions. Meanwhile, the chronograph sub-dials provide visual balance and preserve readability.

In short, every detail reflects a commitment to design excellence and usability – hallmarks of Girard-Perregaux’s philosophy.

The Mechanics Within

At its core, the Laureato Chronograph 42mm is powered by the in-house GP03300 calibre, a self-winding movement that exemplifies technical rigor and refined craftsmanship. Visible through the sapphire caseback, it reveals traditional decorations – Côtes de Genève, circular graining, beveling, mirror polishing, and engraving – executed with careful attention to detail.

Comprising 419 components and 63 jewels, the calibre operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour for precise timekeeping and delivers a minimum power reserve of 46 hours. Beyond performance, it reflects the integrated expertise of Girard-Perregaux, where design, engineering, and finishing are developed in harmony.
