24 Hours Later: Carl F. Bucherer Releases Three New Modern Heritage Worldtimer Models

Diving into its mid-century archives – and honoring the golden age of jet set travel – Carl F. Bucherer offers a chic take a world timer, with three new subtle but potent Heritage Worldtimer models made for the modern age.

To cut to the chase, it took the advent of the commercial jet engine to make a world timer function a broadly useful complication for the masses. More specifically, a watch with a world timer became an apt traveling companion once the jet engine allowed commercial airliners to move people more frequently and more affordably around the globe.

Released yesterday, the new Heritage Worldtimer models from Carl F. Bucherer (CFB) stay true to the heyday of simplified world time watches from the mid-century jet-set arena while carrying a new cutting-edge movement equipped with the brand’s signature Peripheral Technology winding system.

World Time Today…

Powered by the modern COSC-certified chronometer CFB A2020 manufacture movement, the latest Heritage Worldtimer models boast a power reserve of 55 hours. More importantly, this movement features the brand’s bi-directional peripheral rotor winding system.

Visible via the sapphire caseback, this Peripheral Technology repositions the rotational weight from a centrally located rotor to the outer edge of the rotating body. These peripheral rotors then use ball bearings to make the most of each rotational push of energy to the watch spring.

The approach benefits efficiency, to be sure, but it also allows for a thinner movement overall (only 5.5mm thick) with more visible parts when viewed through its caseback. It’s a real win-win.

…With the Charm of Yesterday

Available in three 39mm iterations, the 88-piece limited edition has an 18-karat rose gold case, comes on an updated black textile strap with a quick-release system, and features rose gold applied details across a brushed sunray silver dial for a more sophisticated feel.

Meanwhile, the full-production stainless steel Heritage Worldtimer models are available with either a gleaming silver dial and modern textile strap (like the limited edition model) or an inky black dial with a silkily beaded stainless steel bracelet.

Whichever you go for, both draw focus to the technicality of the wristwatch and its layered 12-hour hash indices, 24-hour UTC ring, and the masterfully simple world city ring along the outer edge of dial for displaying a second time-zone.

An expert blend of a simple yet classic world time display and modern technology, all three of the new Heritage Worldtimer models carry the one BIG nod to previous CFB world timer-equipped models: a dedicated crown at 9 o’clock to adjust the second time zone to keep au courant wherever your travels take you.

Pricing & Availability

The 18-karat rose gold Heritage Worldtimer is limited to 88 pieces and lists for $14,900. Meanwhile, the non-limited stainless steel models with either a black dial or a silver dial are priced at $8,400 and $7,900, respectively. All three models are available now.
