True to its historical origins, the Special Edition Luminor Marina 8 Days created for Revolution is immediately recognizable with the classic aesthetics of the Luminor case in steel, coated with a black DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) treatment. The new model is fitted with the P.5000 calibre, a hand-wound movement entirely developed and executed by the Panerai manufacture in Neuchâtel, featuring the power reserve of eight days which is part of the history of the brand. Between the end of the 1940s and the early 1950s, Panerai used a 16-ligne Angelus calibre which would run for eight days without winding: a very long power reserve to meet the requirements of the commandos of the Italian Navy, who needed to rely on an instrument of complete and enduring reliability during their operations.

All fifty units are equipped with a new Panerai strap in black calf which has a very soft and smooth touch on the surface as it comes completely pure, without any additional lacquer finish. As with all Panerai Special Editions, this timepiece is presented in a special presentation case made of pear wood lined with leather, alongside with a certificate undersigned by Mr. Angelo Bonati, CEO of Officine Panerai.

Officine Panerai will put up a unique piece with millesimation no. “0” exclusively created for the Sotheby’s “Important Watches” spring auction which will be happening in April 2015 in Hong Kong. All proceeds collected will benefit Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association, Queensland, and the donation will be made in the name of Mr. Alan Bloore, an ardent collector of Panerai watches better known on the online community - www.paneristi.com by his online moniker “Hammer”. The Paneristi forum was created by watch devotees for likeminded individuals to express and share their own passion for Panerai watches. Hammer got acquainted with the community years ago, when a boating accident got him paralyzed from mid chest down. During times of rehabilitation, the Paneristi platform kept him distracted from the perpetrating pain and the thoughts of his irrecoverable spinal cord injuries. Since then, his passion for the brand and the involvement in the community has never ceased. Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association started off in the 1960s as a small sports club within the Paraplegic Welfare Association in Queensland. The association plays an active role in promoting disability sport and raising funds for Queensland athletes selected for national and international competitions. Today, they are widely recognized as a leader in the field of sport and healthy activity for people with a disability by national bodies such as the Australian Sports Commission and the Australian Paralympic Committee.

OFFICINE PANERAI

Founded in Florence in 1860 as a workshop, shop and school of watch-making, for many decades Officine Panerai supplied the Italian Navy in general, and its specialist diving corps in particular, with precision instruments. The designs developed by Panerai in that time, including the Luminor and Radiomir, were covered by the Military Secrets Act for many years and were launched on the international market only after the brand was acquired by the Richemont Group in 1997. Today Officine
Panerai develops and crafts its movements and watches at its Neuchâtel manufacture. The latter are a seamless melding of Italian design flair and history with Swiss horological expertise. Panerai watches are sold across the world through an exclusive network of distributors and Panerai boutiques.
