Watch lovers and car lovers aren’t so different.

Perhaps the most important thing they have in common is that they both love to uncover small design details that somehow always manage to surprise and delight. However, despite the fact that watch lovers are just as obsessed with details as car lovers, people entrenched in the watch community tend to overlook small automotive design elements that gearheads could spend hours discussing.

That is why we would like you to join us as we apply some of our micro-hovering skills to highlight some of the finer details automotive designers work so hard to create.

The Range Rover Sport: Active Noise Cancellation

Engineers at the Land Rover-owned brand went to painstaking lengths to create a quiet driving experience in the redesigned 2023 Range Rover Sport (which starts from $83,000).
 

First, microphones and accelerometers had to be placed inside each wheel arch to monitor the sounds entering the vehicle. Then came the installation of digital processors capable of calculating the level of noise-canceling sound that the built-in speakers inside the headrests needed to emit to filter out this noise from the cabin. The result is an incredibly quiet driving experience (that is until you select the dynamic drive mode)…
