Our Favorite Timepieces From Panerai’s New Zurich Boutique

This summer, Panerai opened a new boutique in the heart of Switzerland’s largest city. Watchonista recently visited Zurich to discover this unique space. Here’s a summary of our favorite timepieces from the brand’s “Laboratorio di idee.”

Chairman & Executive Publisher

At the beginning of July, Panerai’s newest boutique opened on Zurich’s most prestigious shopping street - 25 Bahnhofstrasse (Read HERE).

During the official inauguration, we had the opportunity to learn more about this exclusive boutique from Panerai’s CEO, Jean-Marc Pontroué, and discover how this new showcase celebrates the world of the Italian brand.

Now that the new boutique is up and running, we recently took the opportunity to visit and share some of the brand’s 2019 timepieces that are now available, including a new limited edition Luminor Due 42mm and a wide range of new Nato straps that combine functionality with Italian elegance.

A boutique that welcomes visitors into the world of Panerai

Since the arrival of CEO Pontroué, a number of changes can be felt, such as a return to the origins of the brand and a central focus on its expertise in the fields of innovation.

Walking through the boutique's doors, you're taken on a nautical journey with beautiful wood showcases and displays that are reminiscent of classic yachts crafted from exotic woods. Also highly present? The Italian Navy, of which Panerai has been a historical supplier.

The opening of the boutique also provided the opportunity to admire the spectacular Panerai Submersible Luna Rossa 47mm, a timepiece that is rooted in the maritime world of Panerai.

In addition to this nautical theme, Panerai is also presenting its “Laboratorio di Idee” approach to the conception and creation of its watches. This spirit of innovation can be felt throughout the boutique, from the choice of high-tech materials used in the latest timepieces to the choice of furniture which decorates the space and fits perfectly with the overall design. A prime example of this is the PAM 1616 Submersible Carbotech. A piece which perfectly represents the brand’s innovative approach. Its unique indices and highly technical materials make this piece a must-have!

“Panerai has to be as flexible and creative as possible to bring credibility to the ‘Laboratorio di idée’ concept,” Pontroué shares. Once you enter the Zurich boutique, everything becomes clear as you are immersed in the world of Panerai.

Above all, a boutique is a team of professionals dedicated to taking care of its clients. On this note, Panerai has put together an incredible sales force directed by the charismatic and passionate Jean-Marc Meyer, Director of the Zurich boutique.

This is Panerai’s fifth boutique in Switzerland and the choice of location in the country’s most dynamic city was important for the brand as Pontroué notes, “A certain number of hubs attract a large number of purchases by our clients and Zurich is definitely one of those key places; it is the capital of Swiss finance with an important local clientele of connoisseurs as well as many international visitors.”

Panerai Luminor Due 42mm Limited Edition for Zurich and Lucerne

To celebrate the opening of this new Zurich address, Panerai unveiled a limited edition (of 100) of the Luminor Due 42mm, available only in its Zurich and Lucerne boutiques. The caseback has been engraved with a lion, a nod to the crest of the city of Zurich and the famous lion monument in Lucerne.

Housed in a 42mm case with a delicate gray sunburst dial, the Luminor Due - 42mm has an urban feel, while also incorporating Panerai’s distinctive design codes, including the iconic Luminor crown protector. The timepiece is fitted with a black leather strap with red stitching, bringing a chic touch to the overall design.

It is on the wrist, however, this timepiece reveals its true personality. Reflections on the dial under natural light invite the wearer to move around in all directions to enjoy the unique way that light plays with the dial.

Panerai's New Nato straps

Another nice surprise during the visit to Panerai’s Zurich boutique was the discovery of a new line of Nato straps. Clearly inspired by the yachting world and the stripes of a boat’s sails, these new straps will transform any Panerai wristwatch.

Available in three variations, these new Nato straps stand out thanks to their sporty and elegant style. More than just an accessory, these straps will seduce both the brand’s loyal clients and newcomers to the world of Panerai, who step into this magical nautical universe through the doors of the Zurich boutique.
