DOXA Honors Its Historical Diver with the New Army Watches of Switzerland Edition

Last week, our friends at DOXA released a limited-edition timepiece to honor the brand’s fifty-year history with the Swiss Army’s elite divers unit, and it’s already sold out!

Limited to only 100 pieces, the DOXA Army Watches of Switzerland Edition (made in collaboration with the international UK-based retailer of the same name) has all the emblematic design features of the 1960 original coupled with modern updates from the brand’s current SUB line.

Highly anticipated and already sold out, this matte black ceramic re-issue of the DOXA Army is ready for a life of extreme adventures (with the first being getting your hands on one).

The Details

Straight out of the company’s archives, the DOXA Army Watches of Switzerland Edition was designed to be recognized, especially when you consider its bright orange and beige dial surrounded by a 42.5mm black ceramic case.

Fun Fact: The new model’s matte black case is a nod to the original stainless-steel case that was specially-coated to oxidize into a glare-resistant black and an imperative feature for the Swiss Army in 1969.

The re-release comes with two strap options: an integrated FKM rubber and a period-correct camouflage NATO strap that again pays homage to the brand’s history with the Swiss Army.

Finally, behind the titanium caseback is the COSC-certified SW200-1 automatic movement with a 38-hour power reserve for over a day and a half of either deep-water dives or dinners, wherever you prefer.

Ready for the Rugged

With the original famously worn by Jacques Cousteau and his team on the Calypso, the new automatic DOXA Army’s dial color was chosen in response to visibility tests prototypes of the watch underwent during its design process.

Plus, due to this rigorous design process, the new Army model is arguably the most ergonomic DOXA yet. Incredibly light and effortless to wear, this striking diver was made for the modern explorer.

Pricing & Availability

After selling out in just a few days, you may need to employ some of the Swiss Army’s tactics to purchase one. But there is no doubt this re-edition is an instant classic that will be included in the DOXA’s contemporary history.

Originally priced at $4,500, the DOXA Army Watches of Switzerland Edition is currently sold out. For more information, visit the DOXA website.
