Blancpain puts an extraordinary dove in the spotlight for Only Watch

There is a rock-solid relationship between Blancpain and the Monaco Association against Muscular Dystrophies.

In fact, since 2001. It is was first Swiss horology brand to join hands with and engage in the operations of the charity association in addition to producing an exclusive model for the Only Watch auctions. Thus, in 2012, when the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 600 GT3, which was driven by Marc A. Hayek, 2011 Amateur winner of the ADAC GT Masters Championship, was sold, the association obtained 155’000 euros!

A Blancpain Women Collection Watch for Only Watch 2013

For the first time this year the exclusive model proposed by Blancpain stems from the Women collection.

Sophisticated and feminine, this piece displays a dove in full flight on its dial. A symbol of hope and encouragement since the bird, which sings so perfectly, conceptualises innocence, purity, liberty - or simply life. These words come in the form of an encouragement to some 250’000 persons, often still very young, suffering from this disease.

On the aesthetics’ part, this white gold timepiece, 34 mm in diameter, stands out through the decoration techniques employed. The setting is well present on the bezel with two diamond rows while the mother-of-pearl craftsmanship is highlighted on the dial. Each and every detail have been meticulously looked after by the craftsman in order to give birth to the white mother-of-pearl dove which contrasts with a blue mother-of-pearl decoration thanks to the brand’s know-how in terms of mother-of-pearl inlaid work. Twelve diamond indexes surround this image in order to highlight the contrasts and similarities play between the decoration and the dove. The rays of light indeed help putting both the shimmering reflects and the depth of the colours in the spotlight.

The watch displays hours, minutes and seconds via three central hands.

A single look at the back of the case lends to the appreciation of the in-house engravers’ craftsmanship. In fact, through a sapphire glass, one can view an oscillating mass etched with the dove as well as the Only Watch 2013 inscription on the movement. Water-resistant to 30 metres, it is equipped with a white alligator strap and a deployment buckle. Armed with a 100 hours power reserve, the movement consists of 186 components while the piece weighs 0,79 carats.
