The Phillips auction will be held in Hong Kong on May 31, 2016
After capturing headlines with excellent results in mid-May in Geneva, the watch auction house Phillips is about to swing its gavel in Asia. Sam Hines will be setting the pace. Going once...!
From his HQ in HK, this veteran of the industry and of watch auctions manages the entire Phillips watch team. Just before start of the bidding and the rise in consumer temperatures, Sam Hines, International Head of Watches, offers us three things in almost 400 lots to get excited about. The suspense is excruciating.
“Lot 209: The watch is in exceptional condition, it is the only watch known of its kind to be fitted with an enamel dial, the case is very large for the period as it was manufactured in 1951. The case and dial are both in exceptional condition. The watch is just spectacular, it made its auction debut in 1989 and has not been seen since.”
“Lot 368: It is one of only six examples known, and is possibly unique with this dial configuration. The overall quality, as well as the provenance, are exceptional. This watch ticks every box that a collector is looking for in a vintage Patek Philippe. This watch is simply magnificent.”
“373: The watch is one of 3 known in pink gold, the case is unpolished, the watch is of amazing quality, fresh to the market and previously unknown. The last World Time pink double crowns to appear at auction was 18 years ago.”
