Amida - watches & reviews

On the eve of its 50th anniversary, the AMIDA Digitrend is making a bold comeback. Two young watchmaking entrepreneurs, designer Matthieu Allègre and Depancel founder Clément Meynier, have joined forces to revive this iconic model, originally launched in 1976 and inspired by the world of performance cars, crafted with drivers in mind. Every detail from the golden era of the 70s has been faithfully re-created, with the sleek stainless steel, car body inspired case now upgraded for 50-meter water resistance.

A true emblem of the Space Age trend, this Swiss ‘digital’ watch combines a mechanical movement featuring a jumping hour module with a lateral time display, achieved through a sapphire prism. The watch offers a comfortable 44-hour power reserve, and the reissue introduces a modern touch with an open case back, revealing the caliber’s fine craftsmanship.
