TimeForArt Auction Spotlight: The Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 XP TimeForArt Edition 3

Here is another “hot lot” to watch at the upcoming TimeForArt auction in December: a soaring, one-of-a-kind execution of Chopard’s iconic Alpine Eagle timepiece, featuring an exquisite hand-engraved dial that speaks to the storied maison’s innate artistic craftsmanship.

Earlier this month, we highlighted watchmaker Gerald Charles’ contribution to the unique TimeForArt auction.

As the only fundraising watch auction that directly supports contemporary art through the activities of the New York-based Swiss Institute, the event is scheduled in partnership with the Phillips auction house as part of its The New York Watch Auction: VX, which begins at 3 p.m. EST on December 5th in the Big Apple.

However, if you are a fervent fan of Chopard’s Alpine Eagle timepiece (and its extraordinary multi-generational family origin story), this singular lot truly rules the roost.

Taking Wing

Famously, most Alpine Eagle examples feature swirling dials that evoke the iris of the raptor’s exacting, deadly eye. However, for the unique Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 XP TimeForArt 2026 Edition 3, the eagle eye is replaced with a meticulous, hand-engraved rendition of the eagle wing.

Fashioned from Chopard-proprietary ethical 18-karat white gold, every feathery detail of the winged bas-relief is outlined with a fine, hand-applied black patina, ensuring no depth, richness, or texture is lost on the expertly engraved white gold dial plate, which is less than 1mm thick.

While the dial effect is artfully outré and dramatic, the timepiece also stays true to the Alpine Eagle collection’s unmistakable contemporary and technical appeal.

A True Eagle on the Wrist

The 41mm case, made from Chopard’s proprietary Lucent Steel (an alloy made from 80 percent recycled steel and known for its brilliance and durability), and its double-treated Lucent Steel integrated tapered bracelet make this unique piece a true Eagle from afar, even with its slender 8mm case profile.

The automatic L.U.C 96.17-L movement that makes this bird fly uses a pair of stacked barrels to provide a 65-hour power reserve. Additionally, this execution features a 22-karat gold micro-rotor and Côtes de Genève striping on the plate. Plus, the movement’s 3.3mm height contributes to this masterpiece’s overall light, thin, and elegant presentation.

This is all visible, even without an eagle eye, via an exhibition caseback, which frames the show with additional engraved TimeForArt and unique piece references along the caseback ring.
