Fun With Fonts: Typography’s New Maximalism
Seconde Majeure × Baltic
The Seconde Majeure showcases an ingenious jumping-hour complication developed by Théo Auffret, combining mechanical precision with distinctive architectural design. Its three-part mechanism comprises a central driving wheel, a 12-tooth hour star, and a jumper spring, working together to deliver an instantaneous hour change.
As the driving wheel completes each 60-minute rotation, it engages the hour star, while the spring maintains precise positioning and builds tension before releasing the next hour.
Machined from a single piece of German silver, the dial also serves as the module’s main plate, uniting structural integrity, mechanical ingenuity, and refined aesthetics.
