Omega Speedmaster Effect: Three Collectors, Three Distinct Personalities
Tonda Metrographe
The chronograph complication is showcased by the striking presence of the hour and minute counters.
TWO DIFFERENT PROFILES
With its resolutely modern steel case, the urban attitude of its taut, fluid lines, the automatic house chronograph movement – the PF3000 – which has been specially designed to fit the slender middle of the watch, and a more refined silhouette than the Manufacture’s other classic pieces, the Tonda Métrographe cannot fail to seduce. Nor can it fail to surprise, thanks to the quirky imbalance at the heart of its design.
This subtle appeal comes from the watch’s lack of symmetry. In fact, it has two different profiles. Its left-hand profile outlines the brand’s iconic teardrop shape. The right-hand profile features elongated lugs which extend to the crown. These even encompass the chronograph pushpieces. This asymmetry is key to the identity of the Tonda Métrographe, which plays with convention.
The ability to surprise extends to the dial, which showcases the hour and minute counters. These meet obliquely to form a figure eight, one of Parmigiani Fleurier’s iconic features. On the grained white dial version, these counters are grey, highlighted by a blue disc. On the black dial version, the counter surrounds are SuperLumiNova®; a striking feature by day, they light up the night.
