The 6265 “Gadaffi Signature” Oyster Cosmograph Daytona

Very fine, possibly unique and extremely rare, water-resistant, stainless steel wristwatch with round button chronograph, registers, steel bezel with tachometer and a stainless steel rolex ref. 78350 oyster bracelet.

C. Three-body, polished and brushed, screwed down case back retailed by Asprey with serial numbers inside, buttons and crown, tachometer graduation on the steel bezel to 200 units per hour.

D. Bicolor black and silver with red Gadaffi signature, applied faceted steel baton indexes and luminous dots, outer 1/5th seconds track, subsidiary dials for the seconds, the 12-hour and 30-minute registers. Luminous steel baton hands.

M. Cal. 727, rhodium-plated, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to 3 positions, shock absorber, self-compensating freesprung Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws. Dial, case and movement signed. DIAM. 37 mm. THICKNESS 14 mm.Approx. overall length 160 mm.

While enthousiasts continue to discover new dial configurations and variations on the Daytona, this truly exceptional watch has to be considered as a true new revelation. Sold new through Asprey to Libya, the watch bears the perfectly matching signature of Muammar Gadaffi in red matching with the big Daytona signature as well as having the full serial number stamped inside the caseback. Despite the fact that Colonel Gadaffi was seen in the early 1970’s wearing a gold Datejust, it is highly unlikely that it was his watch but rather a gift he made to one of his close friends or a foreign dignitary.
