Official description
“BEHRENS” is a small independent watch brand focusing on design and develop modification of movements by constructing in-house mechanical module to offer a varieties functional time display. From which our main concept is to display time in an all new non-tradition way and to be creative.
B022 - "ROTARY" Series is one our latest creation to tribute to the legendary Japanese car manufacturer Mazda’s 100th anniversary of their brand (1920-2020). From which we have chosen their iconic “Rotary” engine “RX-Series” as our project concept this time. From which we studied how the engine runs and took the motions of the engine rotors and turned them into display for time. By mean of such we have made use of the twin rotors system and turned them into hours and minutes indicators while the unique ‘Rotary’ engine rotor running track has also allow us to create a unique time display.
By mean of such, B022 Rotary is a mechanical wristwatch which we have constructed base on a “ETA” caliber 2824 Swiss automatic movement. From which we have designed and constructed a twin-rotary construction module on top which simulate the motion of the iconic Mazda’s Rotary engine. The large rotor with the triangular pointers rotating with a fixed but non-uniformed track at the bottom alongside with the applied metal indexes on the left hand side of the dial will represent the time in “HOURS”, whereas the smaller triangular 3-pointer rotor on top alongside with the metal applied indexes on the right hand side of the dial will represent the time in “MINUTES”. (Both rotors are installed with sufficient numbers of rubies for reducing friction and to increase efficiency.)
The dial and the rotors do come with luminous to show time in the dark. The dial has been skeletonized so that the mechanism can be clearly seen.
