Most watch enthusiasts associate Alpina sport watches with rugged mountains, lakes, rivers, and valleys. But working out in an urban landscape can be just as rewarding and thrilling. There’s a reason why big, bustling cities are so magnetic. They are filled with energy, colorful characters, and, most importantly, opportunities.

Whether you're climbing the stairs to your third-floor walkup or racing to a spin class, the new AlpinerX Alive from Alpina encapsulates big city energy. And like any major population center, this smartwatch is stylish and full of character.

Collective Soul

The AlpinerX Alive is the successor to the first Swiss connected sports watch – the AlpinerX Smart Outdoors. Born from a 2018 Kickstarter, the AlpinerX Smart Outdoors smartwatch was a smash with the sporting community.

At the time, the brand invited buyers to get involved in designing their timepiece by offering 11,000 different configurations. As a result, 4,000 individually designed watches were delivered, and the four best-selling designs were then added to the AlpinerX Smart Outdoors collection.

The AlpinerX Alive takes that spirit of customization but uses state-of-the-art technology, such as heart rate monitoring, an integrated GPS, and a high-resolution digital screen, to tailor a wellness plan for its wearer.

Data Entry

Alpina is touting the AlpinerX Alive as a personal trainer on your wrist. And the most appealing aspect of this watch to urban athletes is measurable improvements in fitness-related functionality.

There is now an integrated sensor developed by Philips, which measures heart rate is directly from the user’s wrist. Another new feature of the AlpinerX Alive is an integrated GPS that monitors pace with the heart rate through the Alpina Smartwatch app, which is free to download for iOS and Android.

The AlpinerX Alive also measures breathing, VO2 max, and hydration. And it carries out these tasks consistently, regardless of which sporting activity you are participating in.

And for the first time, these features will be displayed on a new high-resolution AMOLED touch screen. Plus, the AlpinerX Alive is has a rechargeable battery with a seven-day charge.

Good Sports

Like any good fitness coach, the features of the AlpinerX Alive track and interpret your workout experience in a manner that’s faster, more intuitive, and more interactive than other smartwatches.

The AlpinerX Alive also recognizes the mutability of workout conditions. This is especially useful for urban athletes with varied exercise routines.

To further help plan your day, the AlpinerX Alive is outfitted with weather information and a Dynamic Coach – a customizable virtual assistant that offers a range of suggested exercises based on previous performance as well as sleep stats and other data analysis.

In addition to these high-tech features are classic timekeeping functions such as a perpetual calendar, GMT, and chronograph.

Make It Personal

The AlpinerX Alive also looks as unique as its wearer. There is a myriad of strap, hand, and dial combinations. In fact, until July 31st, Alpina will be offering 1,500 custom design options through its interactive online configurator.

To honor the community’s creativity, each model sold using the configurator during the promotion period will have $200 taken off the suggested retail price.

From August on, the official six-model AlpinerX Alive collection will be available in stores. Three options will be available in the US, and the global models will be available for special order.

The 45 mm case for the new AlpinerX Alive is available in two variations: navy blue fiberglass ($995 / $795 on the website during promotion) or stainless steel ($1195 / $995 on the website during promotion).

For every watch sold through July 31st, $200 will be donated to the National Park Foundation.
