Bond, James Bond, The Remastered Omega Seamaster Diver 300m

Bond, James Bond, The Remastered Omega Seamaster Diver 300m Collection

Omega’s Seamaster is an icon among tool watches. It was born in 1957 and has been adapted throughout various collections. The Seamaster Diver 300M appeared first in 1993 and celebrated its 25th birthday in 2018. It is THE James Bond watch. For its anniversary, the collection underwent a facelift to become even more attractive…if that were even possible.

Omega’s image is so modern that one tends to forget the brand has existed since 1848. It was one of the pioneers of military watches, providing the British Royal Air Force in 1917 and the Allied Forces armies in WW2. Historically, Omega is closely linked to the history of utilitarian watches. Its know-how is second to none.

Iconic watch

Whether in the air, on earth or at sea, Omega partners with all adventurers searching for precision, reliability… and style. The Seamaster embodies all these values perfectly. The Seamaster Diver 300M takes them a notch further, in the abyss as well as in full light. It is easily recognizable thanks to its helium escape valve located at 10 o'clock. But its greatest strength is that it feels as comfortable in great depths as is does with a cigar or a nice glass of champagne.

James Bond figured it out in 1995 when the timekeeper appeared for the first time on Pierce Brosnan’s wrist in Goldeneye. Omega never left the secret agent since. The model has become an icon from there on. Remember, this was the very beginning of star-ambassadors (thank you Jean-Claude Biver) and the brand was one of the first to adorn prestigious wrists like James Bond’s (Mr. Brosnan then, Daniel Craig now) or Cindy Crawford. A true pioneer’s watch!

Subtle changes

As years passed, the model underwent a few changes. For this special occasion, it undergoes a cure of youth, precision, and style. It puts on some muscles with a case growing from 41 to 42mm. Almost invisible, yet it rejuvenates it and adds some presence. The original ‘wave’ motif of the dial, abandoned at some point, is back. And, it suits her well, reinforcing the nautical theme of this collection.

The big news is that the dial is made of ceramic and the waves are laser-engraved. It gives a very modern and dressy feeling to the face. It also highlights the undulating structure of the unidirectional bezel characteristic of the collection. The latter also benefits from a very elegant facelift. It now comes in CeragoldTM or ceramic with white enamel diving indexes. Another touch of class that will surely appeal to the everyday James Bonds. The durability of this diving bezel is highly improved, making this timepiece the ideal diving watch.

Indexes have been raised, rhodium plated, and covered with Super Luminova for optimal legibility. The skeleton hands also covered with the same substance enhance the latter and add lightness to the new face of the Seamaster Diver 300M. Beautifully done! The date window has been moved to 6 o'clock to create a perfectly balanced harmony. The distinctive helium escapement valve takes on a very elegant conical shape and brings on a new patent enabling its use underwater…for particularly dangerous missions.

Legendary precision

Its renowned accuracy remains, of course, untouched thanks to the in-house Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8800 caliber which passed with flying colors the drastic requirements of the METAS certification: maximum 0/+5s per day, for perfect timing, a James Bond trademark. Likewise, the movement is amagnetic up to 15'000 Gauss – equivalent to an IRM – to guarantee flawless reliability even for the high-tension missions. The marvelous surprise is that, for the first time, this legendary caliber can be admired through the sapphire glass back. The aperture is surrounded by a wavy circle which enhances the Geneva Stripes beautifully in arabesque adorning the plate - as well as the oscillating mass - from its center. The result is striking! Rarely found on a tool-watch. This reinforces the ‘dressy’ appeal of this Diver 300M. James Bond will now be able to flaunt the backside of his trusted partner in crime to his fellow watch lovers.

This latest edition comes on a new, ultra-comfortable, stainless steel bracelet with a new patented adjustable deploying buckle. The brushed and polished finishings provide the final touch of discreet elegance of this excellent diver watch. Dials come in blue, black or grey, also available fitted with black or blue rubber bracelets. In total, 14 different models for a perfectly executed facelift, starting at a very affordable price of CHF 4000. James will certainly not be alone wearing this new Omega Seamaster Diver 300M!
