Watchonista Redux: A Look Back At The Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Collection

We take a look at the many moments we had with one of our favorite releases from the past year.

By Watchonista

Jaeger-LeCoultre's Polaris collection has been captivating collectors and journalists for over a year now. As the brand's almost sole focus in 2018, the Polaris collection is a wide-ranging offering comprised of five compelling models. Inspired by the iconic Memovox collection, the Polaris collection has something for everyone. The lineup is comprised of a three-hand automatic, a chronograph, a world timer, a world timer with power reserve, and finally, the Polaris Memovox.

In honor of the one year anniversary of the Polaris' introduction, we thought it best to take a look back at the Watchonista's special coverage of this model. Thanks to the generous access provided by Jaeger-LeCoultre, we are able to show you video inside the manufacture, hands-on during SIHH, and finally a trip to Miami's Watches & Wonders. Enjoy!

A look back at the introduction

When the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris collection arrived at SIHH 2018 (read HERE), many were stunned that the brand would focus their entire SIHH on one collection. But it was quickly apparent that the Polaris Collection was here to stay and the diverse offering on display at SIHH only proved that Polaris was about to be a HUGE focus for Jaeger-LeCoultre.

As you can read in our article (HERE), the Polaris collection may take inspiration from vintage but is assuredly modern. Featuring in-house calibers and fresh color waves such as the bright blue dials offered on the automatic and chronograph varients. Plus, the attractive starting price of $6,700 offers an entry-level in-house mechanical masterpiece.

Inside the manufacture

Prior to the launch, Watchonista had the unique opportunity to go inside Jaeger-LeCoultre's Le Sentier manufacture (view HERE). Our behind the scenes video gives you an inside look at the manufacture of the Polaris Collection.

It isn't often that you're able to see inside one of the most treasured manufactures in all of watchmaking. From movement creation to dials, and ultimately the casing of the Polaris collection, our video shows it all.

The Polaris collection arrives in Miami

Here's where the Polaris collection really shines! Under the blistering sun of Miami! For the first annual Watches & Wonders, Watchonista enjoyed quality time with the entire Polaris range, even taking the Memovox to the beach! The bright colors of Miami contrasted perfectly with the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris. You can read Watchonista's full Watches & Wonders Jaeger-LeCoultre coverage (HERE).

Watches & Wonders is quickly becoming a must-visit event on the horological calendar, and if 2018 and 2019 were any indication, we are going to be seeing a lot more activity in the years to come!
