Rolex Completely Revises The Oyster Perpetual Collection With A New 41mm Model And New Dial Colors
New dial colors and calibers make these classics feel fresh!
Earlier this year, it was reported that because of the COVID-19 crisis, Rolex was going to skip its 2020 launches altogether. Then they announced that new novelties would be presented globally on September 1st. Even in a normal year, Rolex launches always have enthusiasts all a twitter on Instagram and Facebook with built-up anticipation. You can’t blame enthusiasts for speculating and maybe even doing a little snooping around before the official announcements.
While Rolex has played its cards close to the vest, a very late (in Swiss time) press release finally separates the real from the rumor.
The biggest news is on the Submariner front (read about it HERE), but another big story is that the brand is adding new members to the Oyster Perpetual family.
BIG TIME
A Rolex dealer’s dance cards are usually full of requests for Daytonas and GMTs, yet the Oyster Perpetual is the most popular of the brand’s offerings. Its silhouette is instantly recognizable but also very versatile, which makes it easier for the brand to play around with case sizes, finishes, and dial treatments.
In 2020, the Oyster Perpetual range is welcoming a new model: The Oyster Perpetual 41. Available in two dial options, both models are equipped with the brand new calibre 3230 movement that incorporates Rolex's patented Chronergy escapement.
The first version of the new 41mm has a silver dial with a sunray finish and features hands and hour markers in 18-carat yellow. The second version has a bright black dial also with a sunray finish and features hands and hour markers in 18-carat white gold.
The Oyster Perpetual 36 will be offering five new vibrantly lacquered dial color options: candy pink, turquoise blue, coral red, yellow, and green. Both the 41 and the new generation 36s have a Chromalight display with hands and hour markers coated or filled with a luminescent material that emits a long-lasting blue glow in low light situations. Like the 41, the 36 also carries the caliber 3230.
Like all Rolex watches, the Oyster Perpetual 41 and Oyster Perpetual 36 both carry the Superlative Chronometer certification, ensuring excellent performance on the wrist.
Pricing and Availability
The new Perpetual 41 models will be available at all authorized Rolex dealers starting soon and will be priced starting at $5,900. But no word on when the new Perpetual 36 models will be available, or how they will be priced. For more information on the Oyster Perpetual Collection, visit Rolex's website.
