Following the success of Richard Mille’s RM 033, the first round watch launched in 2011, the brand has gone back to the drawing board in the creation of a brand-new, round, ultra-thin RM 33-02 sports watch.

Julien Boillat And The Watch Exteriors Team

The project was overseen by Julien Boillat, Head of Richard Mille’s watch exteriors team. “We believe it is both essential and logical to pay the same care and attention to evolving our collections as to the original creation of our models,” he said. “In embodying the brand’s intended vision of extreme versatility, the RM 033 is a watch for every day and any day. We have interpreted its aesthetics without disservice to the original version by accentuating its lines. Meanwhile, the exterior decoration, case, and dial have been reworked to project a sportier vibe. The RM 33-02 thus achieves a delicate synthesis of so-called ‘lifestyle’ style and sporty style.”

RM 33-02 Watch Design Details

The new RM 33-03 comes with a Carbon TPT® bezel and caseback and is paired with a satin-finished red gold case band. The shape of the case is interesting as it is a circle inside a barrel shape. The integrated rubber strap fits perfectly with the case and lugs, continuing the lines of the watch around the wrist and contributing to the sporty nature of this new timepiece.

Under The Dial Of The RM 33-02

The RM 33-02 is powered by the ultra-thin, skeletonized caliber RMXP1 movement, which has been crafted out of grade 5 titanium and comes with a base plate that has been wet-sandblasted and treated with Titalyt®. The caliber is regulated by a variable-inertia balance that oscillates at 3 Hz and is wound by an off-center, platinum micro-rotor, which further contributes to the slimness of the movement (only 2.60mm in thickness).

Movement Finishings

Great attention has been given to the aesthetics of the movement with a multitude of horological finishings that include micro-blasting, stretching, satin-finishing and anglage. These decorative details are produced entirely by hand and accentuate the depth of the movement.

On The Dial Of The RM 33-02

The skeletonized dial showcases the incredible workmanship that has gone into the movement with its architectural shapes, different materials, and varying surfaces. It is highlighted with stylized 5N hour and minute hands that have been enhanced with white SuperLuminova® and comes with large 5N gold Arabic numerals in the brand’s signature font. The 5N hour markers are positioned on two rigid titanium rails that are fixed between the movement and the flange.

An Original Sports Watch

Playing with different graphic codes, Richard Mille has succeeded in reinterpreting the popular round sports watch into something completely unique and different. Priced at $145,000 USD and limited to 140 pieces for the world, Richard Mille's first round watch in Carbon TPT® will surely seduce RM fans looking for a great every-day watch that combines the realms of a sports and lifestyle watch in one eye-catching timepiece.
