As a long-time supporter of the Movember Foundation, Oris has been a champion of this important charity benefiting men's health. As you may have read (HERE) on Watchonista, Oris and the New York Yankees are teaming up in 2019 to help raise awareness for this important cause. To celebrate Movember, the brand has released a new Chronoris Movember edition, which we had the pleasure of reviewing.

Hands-on with the Oris Chronoris Movember Edition 2019

Last year's Oris Movember Edition saw a Big Crown Pointer Date (read HERE) transformed with Movember livery and a special Movember branded leather strap. For this year's edition, Oris has taken their ever-popular Chronoris model and added a few distinct Movember touches.

For starters, the new Oris Chronoris Movember edition is outfitted with a decidedly Movember motif. While the form and function of the Chronoris remain unchanged from the original model, the color scheme on the Chronoris Movember piece takes cues from the past. Rose gold text and indicators contrast nicely against a matte black dial, and the inner rotating bezel, seconds hand, and 12 o'clock indicate see a dramatic splash of orange.

Venturing beyond the dial, you'll find rose gold plated hands and hour indices printed with Super-LumiNova which glow brightly under most low light conditions. While the name is Chronoris, the three-hand with date watch isn't really a 'chrono'graph. The inner-rotating bezel is more meant to allow you to time events, sequences, and activities.

The Oris Chronoris Movember edition is powered by Oris' 733 automatic movement which is a modified Sellita SW200-1. The watch features a power reserve of 38 hours and beats at a frequency of 28,800vph. The screw-down caseback is engraved with 'ORIS MOVEMBER EDITION' and Movember's mustache logo.

What strikes me the most about the Chronoris is its distinct tonneau-shaped case. For a watch costing around $2,000, the case finishing is extraordinary. The top of the case sees a starburst brushed pattern sloping gently down to polished and dramatically beveled case edges. A case thickness of 12.5mm makes for a comfortable wrist presence and allows the Chronoris to be worn in any situation.

Like previous Oris Movember editions, the Chronoris Movember edition comes fitted on a brown leather strap stamped with a charismatic mustache. The mustache is stamped at the top of each strap where the strap connects to the lugs. Side stitching on the strap lends an extra dose of vintage nostalgia. Each watch will come with a matching leather travel pouch and a red, cream, and brown NATO strap.

Overall, I found the watch very wearable due to the smooth case finishing and comfortable strap. Legibility is paramount for any watch I'm considering purchasing and the Chronoris Movember edition has just the right amount of contrast and pops of color to tug at my wallet strings. Coupled with the fact that the piece was made to promote men's health via the Movember charity, I think Oris has a real winner on their hands.

The Oris Chronoris Movember edition is available at Oris retailers and the brand's standalone boutiques in Zürich, Basel, London, Tokyo, Amsterdam, and Singapore.
