Bulova Unveils the Snorkel Sail4th Special Edition to Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary

Few American watchmakers are as closely associated with New York City as Bulova. Founded in Lower Manhattan in 1875, the brand is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2026 alongside another historic milestone - the 250th anniversary of the United States. To mark the occasion, Bulova has partnered with Sail4th 250, the organization behind New York Harbor’s official Semiquincentennial celebrations, introducing the Snorkel Sail4th Special Edition.

The collaboration is particularly meaningful given Bulova’s origins. Joseph Bulova opened his first store on Maiden Lane in Lower Manhattan in 1875, only a short walk from today’s South Street Seaport, where many of the Sail4th festivities will take place. The brand has long embraced its New York identity, and the partnership reflects both its local roots and the historical relationship between precision timekeeping and maritime navigation.

For centuries, accurate timekeeping has played a fundamental role in seafaring, enabling navigators to determine longitude and safely cross the world's oceans. The new model immediately distinguishes itself through a bold red, white, and blue colour scheme. Its 41 mm white Hybrid Ceramic case is paired with a blue unidirectional rotating bezel featuring a bi-colour red-and-blue insert, while the textured red dial evokes ocean waves and the colours of the American flag. Applied silver-tone hands and hour markers are filled with luminous material, and a discreet date display sits at three o’clock.
 

Completing the look is a perforated blue HNBR rubber strap, reinforcing the watch’s sporty character and making it well-suited for summer wear both on and off the water. A double-curved mineral box crystal adds a subtle vintage touch to the otherwise contemporary design, while the compact dimensions ensure comfortable everyday wear.

Powering the watch is the reliable Miyota Calibre 2115 quartz movement, chosen for its robustness, accuracy, and low-maintenance operation. Water resistance is rated to 100 metres, making the Snorkel suitable for swimming, snorkelling, and everyday use rather than being a true diving watch for scuba divers.
 

Turning the watch over reveals one of its defining features: a specially engraved stainless-steel caseback celebrating Sail4th 250. The commemorative artwork pays tribute to the six-day event, which will welcome tall ships from 32 nations and more than 15,000 sailors to New York Harbor as part of one of the largest international maritime gatherings ever held in the United States.
