Avengers Assembled: Breitling Redesigns Its Most Sporty Aviation Collection

Features like sleek yet authentic detailing, durable next-gen materials, and the inclusion of the brand’s powerhouse Manufacture Calibre 01 redefine the flight path for the new Breitling Avengers revealed earlier today.

In a press release for the newly redesigned Avengers collection revealed today, Breitling CEO Georges Kern said, “The Avenger was created to stand up to the relentless conditions of a jet cockpit and to support pilots in demanding aerial maneuvers. Its redesign demanded nothing less.”

Offered in three core formats – a 44mm chronograph, a 44mm automatic GMT, and a 42mm automatic – Kern’s statement about the new Avenger collection continued, “This collection pairs all the performance with sophisticated modern aviation style.” And honestly, we find ourselves struggling to disagree, especially when you consider that additional strap and detail options open up an expansive new world of Avengers for the adventurous wrists of its fans.

Avenger B01 Chronograph 44 and Night Mission

In addition to the inherent advantages of the Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01 that drives these models (with COSC certification and a 70-hour power reserve, among them), the Avenger B01 Chronographs’ dial color options highlight their versatility: First, there is the classic black execution with black quarter-second, 30-minute, and 12-hour counters. Next, there are the Munsell blue and foamy green versions, both with black counters. And finally, there is the sandy beige model with white indices and black counters.

All models are rendered in steel, have white and red detailing, and offer color-matched military leather straps or a beefy three-link steel bracelet. Plus, rated as they are for up to 30 bars of water resistance, these chronographs sport dials awash with Super- LumiNova while also featuring unidirectional bezels and display casebacks.

Not to be outdone, this quartet’s sister timepieces, a duo of Avenger B01 Chronograph 44 Night Mission models, up not only the technical ante but the boldness factor, as well, with a 44mm durable yet lightweight black ceramic case and rotating bezel. Available with either a sneaky black or a bold yellow dial and matching straps, the legibility of these timepieces has been kicked up a notch with Arabic hour indices, and, of course, additional lume.

Avenger Automatic GMT 44

The GMT-equipped models in the new Avenger fleet, the Avenger Automatic GMT 44, pivot to the rock-solid Breitling Calibre 32 movement (with its 42-hour power reserve) and feature a red second-time zone hand that can be set easily via the burly main crown, including the pilot-favorite Zulu (or GMT) time.

Also coming in 44mm steel cases, the Avenger Automatic GMT 44 timepieces carry a bolder, easier-to-read bezel with dial options that include traditional black or subdued cobalt, as well as black or blue color-matched military leather strap or chunky steel bracelet options.

Avenger Automatic 42

Showing some love to those seeking a tough, adventure-ready timepiece at a smaller size, this squadron of new Avenger Automatic 42 three-handers powered by the COSC- certified Breitling Calibre 17 carry a 38-hour power reserve and sport unidirectional steel bezels that mirror their Avenger B01 Chronograph 44 brethren.

Indeed, the Avenger Automatic 42 models definitely read as smaller, less graphically detailed executions of the Avenger B01 Chronograph 44 (sans chrono pushers and sub- dials, of course); however, available with either black, naval-blue, or camo-green dials and, again, coming with the option of a color-matched military leather strap or a steel bracelet, these entry-level, steel encased Avengers pack a visual and horological wallop that will garner attention.

Pricing was unavailable at press time, but with the press embargo now lifted, you can learn more about the new Avenger collection on the Breitling website.
