All In The Family: Greubel Forsey’s Balancier 3 Seddiqi 75th Anniversary Limited Edition

The expression “chosen family” makes a lot of sense in the watch world. For example, retailers, watchmakers, and collectors are more than just part of a community; over the years, they create a bond that can last for generations.

Let’s take a look at this new piece.

At the heart of all Balancier 3 models is its big 12.6mm balance wheel, which provides the movement with both precision and stability. Every other element of the mechanism builds out from this regulating organ.

For this celebratory piece, the movement itself is dressed up in PVD pink gold, which creates a warm feeling when viewed through its skeletonized dial. At 10 o’clock on the dial side, the barrel cover bears the words “WHERE LEGACY MEETS LUXURY,” which are engraved in relief on a circular-grained surface with a polished countersink at its center.
 

Additionally, visible through the exhibition caseback, the power reserve bridge also carries the PVD pink gold treatment, while, to better highlight the milestone, a raised hand-polish “75” engraving does not. A solid gold plate engraved “1 of 10” completes the tribute, underscoring the exclusivity of this edition.

Most importantly, for the first time ever, Greubel Forsey has applied a frosted hand finish to the dial’s curved, openworked central titanium bridge supporting the hours, minutes, and small seconds. This finishing, unprecedented on a curved surface, represents a significant step forward in traditional craft.
 

Housed within a signature 41.5mm convex titanium case, the Balancier 3 presents precision and chronometric performance as the ultimate expression of watchmaking. And while there’s a lot of activity in this house, Greubel Forsey’s design team has managed to make a display that feels uncluttered.
