24 Hours Later: Bucherer Drops a Hot Trilogy of Haute Exclusive Models

Yesterday, the leading global watch retailer revealed a trio of boutique exclusives from Ulysse Nardin, Girard-Perregaux, and Chopard. Oh, my!

Global watch retailer Bucherer has made a luxurious habit of offering store-exclusive models from outstanding watchmakers, most recently with H. Moser and Breitling. But this time, Bucherer has tripled down.

Yesterday, the retailer shared an exclusive, limited edition deep green dial execution of a Ulysse Nardin Freak X Enamel, an exquisite boutique-only Girard-Perregaux Laureato Tourbillon, and an equally unique and limited Chopard L.U.C Strike One with a gorgeous sky blue dial.

A real triple threat for Bucherer’s dedicated collector customers, let’s run them down, one-by-one.

Green Envy: Bucherer Exclusive Ulysse Nardin Freak X Enamel

The signature no-hands movement carousel appeal of Ulysse Nardin’s innovative Freak takes on an even more unique character with an eye-catching emerald green enamel dial surface.

Limited to just 18 pieces, the visual effect of this always avant-garde timepiece was created with traditional metiers d’art techniques. First, the plate received elaborate guilloche etching to create the miasma of geometric lines. Next, neutral enamel was put on, followed by several layers of painstakingly applied vibrant green enamel.

The Bucherer Exclusive Freak retains the model’s disruptive, modern objet d’art nature, but the finishing of this titanium timepiece takes on what is probably its most classic form to date.

Complemented by a black rubber strap with colorful green stitching details that play well with the dial, you might want to give a quick green light to this version of the Freak, as those 18 editions will go quickly.

Round It Goes: Bucherer Exclusive Girard-Perregaux Laureato Tourbillon

One of the fascinations of the Girard-Perregaux Laureato is that, since its auspicious launch 50 years ago, the timepiece’s design canvas has taken well to an overwhelming number of design, complication, and material variations without breaking its appealingly sporty presentation.

Amazingly, adding a tourbillon at 6 o’clock, while certainly a haute horological flex, does not overshadow what you expect from the design of a higher-end titanium Laureato. Thus, the Bucherer Exclusive has a magnificent integrated titanium bracelet and a micro-rotor movement, which, even with the tourbillon added, makes for a slim 11mm overall thickness.

Moreover, the expected Laureato Clous de Paris “nailhead” textured dial (in an exclusive anthracite grey for this Bucherer edition) and exhibition caseback for a view of the expertly decorated movement complete this handsome model.

The Bucherer Exclusive Girard-Perregaux Laureato Tourbillon is limited to only 8 pieces and carries a special “Bucherer 1888” engraving as an in-the-know nod to the collaboration.

Music to My Ears: Bucherer Exclusive Chopard L.U. C Strike One

The sweet song of the Chopard L.U.C Strike One, which chimes the passing hour, has long been a fixture on collectors’ wish lists. However, several unique details of this 40mm Bucherer Exclusive make the music that much sweeter.

First, the sonnerie au passage hammer is integrated and visible at 1 o’clock, and it strikes the passing hour on a Chopard-patented monobloc sapphire gong. Meanwhile, although Chopard’s proprietary Lucent Steel alloy appears on many other Chopard models (like its sporty Alpine Eagle collection), this special edition is the first time the 80% recycled steel-derived material has been used on a Strike One (which is usually encased in white gold).

With a hand-guilloched dial of ethically sourced 18K white gold colored in an exquisite light blue honeycomb motif and sporting a stealthy single baguette diamond at 8 o’clock, this is clearly a very special Strike One for collectors. The symphony concludes with a stylish grey leather strap.

The Triple Threat

To recap: The exclusive Ulysse Nardin Freak (CHF 38,500) is limited to 18 editions, and the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Tourbillon (CHF 112,000) and Chopard L.U.C (CHF 65,000) exclusives are limited to 8 pieces each. You can learn more via the Bucherer website.
