Why Women Will Appreciate The Patek Philippe Twenty~4 Automatic

At an event in the heart of Milan, Patek Philippe launched a new Twenty~4 Automatic, the first automatic collection that is exclusively feminine. An occasion to discover this marvel with its timeless design, designed for ladies that write their own stories and define their own traditions.

Launched in 1999, Patek Philippe’s Twenty~4 collection had conjugated femininity and geometrical forms to show a dynamic design that was typically in vogue during the era. Today, this new model, is reinventing itself to reveal how precious the range of its potential is and how integrated its vision is with the philosophy of the iconic factory which made the transition of timelessness a watchmaking ideal.

Automatically beautiful

I found myself in a courtyard located in the heart of Milan, where the Italian offices of Patek Philippe are located. Before me stood a large glass gazebo mounted to gather invited guests to witness the birth of this watch. In this warm environment where plants ran wild and where artsy paper cut dresses were exposed, the participants were able to discover the new Twenty-4 Automatique collections after an address by Thierry Stern (President of Patek Philippe). The latter surprised the specialists. Indeed, most of the guests were expecting to discover an automatic version of the Twenty~4 collection, but only a few guessed that the new case would be round. And yet, after proper reflection, the very structure of the market is now more oriented towards globalization rather than towards a partition of the latter, naturally imposed on this drawing which was once more consensual and less segmenting.

The spirit to the letter

A professional of this craft knows the power of the signature on the dial influences quite significantly the appreciation of the advantage the Geneva manufacture has over most others, because is not Patek Philippe who wants.

In other words, the observer's perception of design is never wholly neutral and different parameters influence his or her overall judgment. Thus, this new collection with suggestive curves could leave some ladies observers cold, or even not to be appreciated at its true value in a brand eager to convey contemporary values and communicating in a genuinely future-oriented way.

But in the case of Patek Philippe, the public perception of the current collections is distinctly different. Expectations are different, and so are aspirations. Here again, the factory founded in 1839 by Antoine Norbert de Patek has been able to decipher the desires of a female audience that we know are more versatile because they are more sensitive to fashion. After about six years, of studies, research, focus groups, and market observation, the manufacture chose to launch and unveil a collection that Thierry Stern presented as a highly anticipated reference for female customers of the manufacture. Once the watches could be tried, the female journalists on hand from different markets were quick to put them on the wrist.

Try it, and you will love it!

If some were initially dubious, all agreed that the timepiece was perfectly adapted to their wrist. But we can guess the reasons for this immediate adoption. Created to give Rhythm to the day to day life of the independent and active women, this new reference available in steel or rose gold is adorned with a 36mm round case with a bezel set with 160 or 208 diamonds on the gold version.

Not too thin, the case gives off a little bit of tamed masculinity that seduces those who had from time to time wanted to borrow the watch of their companion. But the line is also adorned with a powerful dial punctuated with applique Arabic numerals and luminescent material inspired by those of the Calatrava Pilot Travel Time models.

The decision was made to a date window at 6 o'clock – which gives a dominant style and helps to make readability easy and reinforces a dimension that the manufacture recognizes as almost martial to a very textured dial.

These oppositions make this watch to wear on a steel metal bracelet, in gold or gold set with 248 diamonds whose design is a contemporary iteration of that of the historic Twenty-4 a real gem to wear for any occasion of the day and the night. And because women also want to share with men the pleasure of wearing timepieces with a heart coming from a noble manufacture, this line, a real new watchmaking chapter for Patek Philippe, comes to life thanks to an automatic manufacture caliber (the Patek Philippe 324 SC) which is visible through the transparent background, will seduce women who have made a choice to have all power over their life.
