Video: The Octo According To Bulgari, "An Object Must Speak To The Heart And Soul"
St. Moritz, at the end of the summer of 2018. What better place for a timeless interview dedicated to the design of Bulgari's iconic Octo? All around, the mythical Passione Engadina race and a guest of honor, Maserati.
We talked about Italian design and about that little extra of soulfulness that makes desirable objects far beyond their functionality.
Moreover, as Managing Director of Bulgari Watches, Guido Terreni emphasized, watchmaking refers to the "dressing" (habillage in French) of watches, i.e., “what we are going to put around a calibre and its functionalities?” On the contrary, for the watchmaking team of the Roman brand whose design is headed by Fabrizio Buonamassa-Stigliani, the challenge is entirely different: to bring to life the heart of a highly successful form with the most incredible and mastered micro-mechanical expressions. These watchmaking complications, which are only possible thanks to the multiple skills of a fully-integrated Manufacture. Thus, was born such a reference, the Octo, which stands out as the watch icon of the decade.
While the engines were roaring, the quick answers of the two Bulgari men interviewed on the tarmac of a small Samedan airport seemed to be forever engraved in the timeless watchmaking world. Like this everlasting and inimitable sound produced by a Maserati during the deceleration phase, delicious exhaust gas backflow. Watch the interviews below.
