Watchonista Reaffirms HSNY Partnership And Delivers Impressive Charity Auction Result

Watchonista is pleased to announce that we will be supporting the vital cause of Horological Society of New York for the second year as a partner. This great watchmaking society supports the global effort to raise awareness and training for new and burgeoning watchmakers.

This year's HSNY Gala and Charity Auction brought together the very best of New York’s watchmaking industry. Watchonista was pleased to sponsor this year’s gala and support the charity auction. As you may have read, Watchonista donated an all-expense-paid trip to Switzerland as an auction lot this year.

High atop a penthouse in Union Square, HSNY held it's biggest ever gala event. From the moment the doors opened, the space was full of people and good energy. From brands to retailers and a litany of collectors, New York's watchmaking scene was in full strength to support this very important cause.

Top lots!

The 2019 edition of HSNY's charity auction resulted in possibly the most significant haul to date. All-in, the charity gala brought in $45,000! With multiple lots going into four and five figures. Our favorite lots of the auction were the following – A private dinner with Hodinkee’s Jack Forster and Stephen Pulvirent ($3,400), an Atom Moore x Grand Seiko watch portrait ($2,600), a visit to Audemars Piguet Le Brassus museum ($4,500), and a private watchmaking lesson with Francois Paul Journe ($11,000).

Notably, Watchonista donated an exclusive horological trip to Switzerland, and after a ferocious round of bidding, our lot went for $5,000! The lucky winner was enthused to win a trip to Switzerland and will be joining our team very soon. The anonymous bidder is excited about his upcoming trip and provided us the following quote, "I can't think of a better way to spend time and money than with the crazy guys from Watchonista. These guys are doing something different and fun, and I look forward to spending time with the team in Switzerland."

As an encore, TAG Heuer surprised guests with a special lot. An all-expenses-paid trip to the 2019 Indy 500. This once in a lifetime experience ended up netting $3,250 for HSNY, and the lucky winner is sure to enjoy a unique experience, much like Watchonista did last year!

For 2019, HSNY is offering an unprecedented amount of traveling education classes and lectures its 44th Street location. For more information, visit HSNY’s website.
