Watchonista Bringing You The Best Of Dubai Watch Week
It is a unique event across the globe: a cultural showcase that aims at sharing watchmaking knowledge and perpetuating its tradition. The event is organized in the Middle East’s largest business hub, Dubai. By none other than the Seddiqi family. This is Dubai Watch Week
In 2017, Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons are organizing Dubai Watch Week for the third time with the support of their partners.
The organization has managed to bring together the pinnacle of the world of watchmaking in a single place: the finest brands, the savviest collectors, the most skilled craftsmen and the most influential journalists and digital media including our friends from Analog/Shift, Revolution, The Watches.Tv, Fratello Watches, Petrolicious and Hodinkee.
Watchonista is delighted to announce its active participation to the event. I will be sharing my vision of watchmaking during the round tables. We will also bring you the best of the event live from Dubai. So, don’t miss to follow us on social media.
“Dubai Watch Week is one of my favorite horological time of the year. Meeting all the key people from the industry in a single place is an amazing opportunity to raise the sharpest questions and hear about some news secrets from the watchmakers.”
Claude Sfeir - Collector
Christie’s, the auction house, is involved in making this event a must-attend. You don’t often get this opportunity to meet and attend conferences where top experts from their field are debating publicly. The plus? The access to the event is free to everyone.
This fact is revealing a lot about the generosity of the Seddiqi family. Particularly emphasizing their attachment to watchmaking. Since their inception in the late 1940s, the Seddiqi family and their numerous retail outlets have promoted the finest Swiss made watchmaking brands such as West End Watch Co. Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons has since expanded its range and carries almost an entire portfolio of high end Swiss watch brands.
« As a motorist, we usually take part to BtoB events. We have very little opportunities to meet collectors who don’t know much about us. During Dubai Watch Week, we not only get the opportunity to connect with final recipients of our work but it is also an adequate platform to strengthen relationship with professionals and interact with watch lovers.”
Jean-Marc Wiederrecht - Agenhor
It is through deep passion and understanding of every little detail that make a watch an amazing piece of art and the family has taken the same approach to establish itself as a leading retailer.
“More than a fair, Dubai Watch Week is an horological campus. It’s a week full of activities, exchange and learnings. For collectors, it will be a great opportunity to rediscover our resonance calibre featuring new dial versions promoting arts crafts.”
Claude Geisler - Armin Strom
As these values seem to be slowly diluting within the industry, they decided to take action. Dubai Watch Week was born three years ago with a clear aim: preserving the watchmaking tradition and raising horological awareness.
And I even have the personal conviction that the global position of the Seddiqi family within the industry allows them to address a wide panel of people, established beyond the Middle East, to distil their messaging.
Dubai Watch Week is one of THE most important horological events of the year. Whether you are just getting started or want to deepen your knowledge. You should register and attend without hesitation. We would love to hear your thoughts on the event and see your photos shared to social media. This will also be a great opportunity for you to connect with the Watchonista team. We’ll be attending the entire event and I’m participating in three of the Horology Forum sessions. (full program here).
