The celebrities came to the festival well-armed to promote their movies.

Technically, the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival ends Saturday evening in France. However, the big-name presentations have already happened, which means the A-list celebrities have already walked the red carpet, showed off their fashions, and flashed their incredible timepieces.

So, while the cinematic honors have not yet been bestowed, Watchonista is confident in handing out our own horological “Palme d’Ors” a few days early.

Please Note: Chopard is well represented in this list but should also get special mention for being an official partner for the festival and creating all of the trophies awarded at the festival’s closing ceremony.

Additionally, the brand shows its support for the rising generation of international cinema through the Trophée Chopard by honoring two actors with promising careers at an official dinner at the festival.

This year, Chopard has voted actress Sophie Wilde and actor Mike Faist as the Laureates of the 2024 edition, which was presented by this year’s Godmother of the Trophée Chopard, Demi Moore (more on her watch choices later).

Francis Ford Coppola in F.P.Journe

Our first star spotting of Cannes 2024 was from the camera call for director Francis Ford Coppola’s opus Megalopolis. Appropriately, he was snapped wearing his F.P.Journe FCC – a watch that he inspired.

Fun Fact: The “FCC” in the watch’s name stands for Francis Ford Coppola.

Adam Driver In Piaget

Off the red carpet, Megalopolis’ leading man, Adam Driver, was seen wearing a 42mm Piaget Polo Chronograph with a steel case and green dial during the photocall.

On the red carpet, Driver wore the less flashy, but no less elegant, 42mm Polo Date with an 18-karat rose gold case and a chocolaty brown dial.

Nicolas Cage in Hublot

Francis Ford Coppola’s nephew Nicolas Cage was in town to promote his film The Surfer. He accessorized his beige Zegna ensemble with the bright greenish-yellow of the Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Yellow Neon SAXEM.

Giuseppe Maggio in Hublot

Cannes is an international film festival, so we want to honor more than just Hollywood stars. Here, we spied Italian actor Giuseppe Maggio with a Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph King Gold Blue 42mm on the red carpet for the film Maria.

Michelle Yeoh in Richard Mille

It seems as if Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh is never not photographed with a Richard Mille on her wrist. In this image, she has paired her Richard Mille RM 07-01 timepiece featuring a white gold case and snow-set diamonds with a fringed Bottega Veneta skirt.

And speaking of fringes, Michelle surprised the press by debuting a new haircut on the red carpet of her film Horizon: An American Saga.

Baloji in Louis Vuitton

Baloji, the Belgium-based Congolese songwriter and director of the 2023 Official Cannes Film Festival Selection Omen about four people navigating accusations of witchcraft and sorcery, attended this year’s festival as the co-president of the Caméra d’Or prize. And he came dressed for the occasion, wearing head-to-toe in Louis Vuitton, including a steel Tambour watch with a blue dial.

Terrance Lau Chun Him in Chopard

Star of the martial arts film Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, an adaptation of the manhua “City of Darkness” by Andy Seto, Hong Kong superstar Terrance Lau Chun Him wore an Alpine Eagle 41 XPS Monte Rosa to the midnight screening.

Raymond Lam in Chopard

Lau’s Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In co-star actor and singer Raymond Lam also was spotted in Chopard. In this instance, a L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25, a watch many of us here at Watchonista dream of someday owning.

Kevin Costner in Chopard

Hollywood legend Kevin Costner was the talk of the town for his performance in Horizon: An American Saga. He also got a lot of buzz for his effortless pairing of a classic tux and a Chopard L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru.

Demi Moore in Chopard

In another Cannes comeback story, Demi Moore wore a vintage Chopard L’Heure Du Diamant watch while relaxing on the Riviera.

Barry Keoghan in Omega

Barry Keoghan was also part of a cast that received a seven-minute standing ovation. The Irish actor and star of Bird stayed true to his love of Omega by wearing a fully gem-set Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M in Sedna Gold on a red leather strap.

Chris Hemsworth in Chopard

The film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga got a seven-minute standing ovation. We’d like to think that at least five minutes came courtesy of actor Chris Hemsworth’s diamond-studded Alpine Eagle 41, featuring a case and integrated bracelet made from ethical 18-karat white gold entirely set with diamonds. However, for a little splash of color, the bezel is set with deep blue trapeze-cut sapphires.

Hong Chau in Hublot

After receiving Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for her roles in the 2018 film Downsizing and the 2023 movie The Whale, Hong Chau is lighting up the screen again with her performance in Kinds of Kindness, which co-stars Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons. She also lit up the photocall in her diamond-bezeled Hublot Classic Fusion Titanium.

Joe Alwyn in Piaget

At the premiere of the film Kinds of Kindness, actor Joe Alwyn nailed the Andy Warhol-factory-era vibe in a Celine tux with a skinny tie, black-out sunglasses, and a Piaget Black Tie Inspiration Vintage.
