Fourtané Vintage GTG at Monterrey Car Week
For the last several years, this week of vintage car goodness has also been a focal point and gathering spot for vintage watch aficionados from around the world.
They are both must attend events hosted in August every year in picturesque the Monterey Peninsula. Aside from spotting the various wrist candy that adorns many a visitor in town that week, the epicenter of watch collecting is undoubtably Fourtané Estate Jewelers, located on Ocean Avenue in Carmel. Fourtané has been the premier location for visitors to peruse both new and vintage Rolex watches, in addition to their collection of unique and beautiful estate jewelry. Last year, Fourtané added the well respected independent manufactures Laurent Ferrier and Ressence to their stable of brands, and this year, the further enhanced their shopping experience with the addition of A. Lange & Sohne to the product mix.
We were fortunate enough to attend an annual gathering at Fourtané on Friday night which saw over 100 collectors from around the world visiting.
Guests were treated to delicious finger foods and appetizers, and were served wine and “Vintage Rolex” inspired cocktails while browsing a truly impressive selection of watches. An extensive array of Langes were on display, including the newest striking Zeitwerk, as well as an original 1940’s WW2 B-Uhr.
The star of the show however, is always the vintage Rolexes, and this year definitely did not disappoint! Several different Paul Newmans, a few Comexes, and many other rare and desirable sports watches were on display. Rumor has it, that even the CEO of Rolex himself, Mr. Dufour stopped by to check out the watches!
If you happen to be in town for car week, don’t forget to stop by Fourtané and join us for the 2016 installment of our annual Vintage Rolex gathering.
