Fresh off its monumental 120th birthday festivities in 2024, Oris has another big anniversary to celebrate in 2025. This year marks six decades of one of the brand’s most iconic designs: the Divers Sixty-Five.

In honor of the occasion, Oris hosted us in Vail, Colorado, for the big reveal of the commemorative model and a preview of what the brand has in store for the rest of the year.

The Oris Divers Sixty-Five 60th Anniversary Edition

The origins of the Divers Sixty-Five can be traced back to 1965, when the brand debuted its first dive watch. The model was notable for some key features: a 36mm stainless steel build, a bi-directional bezel, a domed crystal, a screwdown crown, and a distinctive dial marked by high contrast detailing.

With this anniversary edition, Oris brings back many of these beloved traits in their full glory, resulting in an authentically executed reissue.

“When you recreate a watch that speaks to a key moment in the past, it’s important to make sure it’s still relevant today, in the present, and that it will still look good 20 years into the future,” shared Rolf Studer, CEO of Oris. “Especially when it comes to pieces drawing from our history, we’re always thinking about the past, present, and future of the design.”

The new Divers Sixty-Five 60th Anniversary Edition offers some modern upgrades, such as a more contemporary, oversized 40mm case, while maintaining the original’s stainless steel construction. Like the original, it comes equipped with a domed crystal; however, this time, it is sapphire and has a healthy dose of anti-reflective coating. Still, the real showpiece of this model is the dial.

Proportions and crystals aside, this commemorative model retains the essence of the original through many style elements. It is almost as if you are seeing the vintage diver from 1965 come to life.

Most significantly, the black dial serves as the backdrop for the details that define this watch’s personality. It features the anti-shock labeling at 6 o’clock, shorter indices, large luminescent Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9, and 12, and the retro Oris logo with the word “waterproof’ underneath it, revived for the first time in Oris’ contemporary history.

What’s Next for Oris’ Divers and Beyond

We’ve already seen Oris unveil a whopping three new watches in 2025, and we’re only just over a month and a half into the new year. In addition to the Divers Sixty-Five 60th Anniversary Edition, the brand gave us its take on the Year of the Snake with a ProPilot X Limited Edition, and we saw the next evolution of the brand’s partnership with the Muppets in the form of the ProPilot X Miss Piggy Edition.

We also gained some insights into what to expect from the brand’s novelties at this year’s annual Watches and Wonders fair in Geneva and beyond.

“Luxury industries across the board have been experiencing a lot of ups and downs over the last several years,” explained Studer. “The pandemic unexpectedly resulted in some peak years in our space, but what goes up must come down, as they say, and the past couple years have been more challenging.”

“This ebb and flow will always be true,” Studer continued. “But no matter what, as a brand, you must continually come back to your values – the way you want to make people feel – and our philosophy since 1904 has simply been this: create beautiful mechanical watches that make people smile.”

We can’t say too much more (yet), but based on the sneak preview we got of Oris’ planned Watches and Wonders releases, you can definitely expect to be grinning.

Take our word for it: If you’re a fan of the brand’s bold, colorful, playful spirit – perfectly balanced with thoughtful watchmaking all at a great value – you’re going to like what Oris has in store for 2025.
