Bold, Retail-Partner Limited Editions from DOXA Will Cure Your Winter Doldrums

We don’t need to recap the whole DOXA story here to express the special place its dive watches hold in the hearts of serious SCUBA divers.

While founded as a manufacture in 1889, since its dive watch focus began in the 1960s (in consultation with the “Saint of SCUBA,” Jacques Cousteau), the brand has managed to walk a fine line between the appeals of serious diving features and functions and a sense of heritage-faithful – but playful – style.

Now, four new limited editions, created exclusively for some of its die-hard retailers, add even more to the story. Let’s dive in.

Created for Floridian retailer Exquisite Timepieces, the SUB 250T GMT Gulfshore and SUB 250T GMT Afterglow Limited Editions use DOXA’s beloved SUB 250T dive watch to capture the spirit of a sunny Gulf of Mexico resort in both a vibrant (and exclusive to this limited edition) sunset-pink and warm ocean-blue dial executions.
 

I have had the privilege to test-wear the Gulfshore version for the past week or so. I was first SCUBA-certified in Florida’s gulf waters many decades ago, and the 40mm automatic steel timepiece’s signature pro-grade features (250-meter water resistance rating; screw-down crown; expertly tactile, thin unidirectional bezel; and technical gauging) reminded me that it’s been more than a minute or two since my last dive trip.

However, as I have been humping around in the snowy U.S. Northeast, it was the uncanny blue hue (one you only see on the Gulf Shore of Florida) of the dial, enhanced by sunny orange details, that sparked an idea and got me checking on flights to balmy Florida.
 

The equally eye-catching pink dial of the 40mm steel SUB 250T GMT Afterglow will likely spark similar vacation inspiration in others. Moreover, DOXA’s signature slinky, vintage-inspired “beads of rice” steel bracelet looks particularly alluring in this execution (dial color-matched rubber straps are included for both Exquisite limited editions, however).

Both the Exquisite Timepieces x DOXA SUB 250T GMT Gulfshore and SUB 250T GMT Afterglow Limited Edition models are limited to 50 pieces each and are available from Exquisite Jewelers for $2,790.

Watch enthusiasts in Northern California will be familiar with Topper Fine Jewelers’ insightful, creative curation of watches. Aptly, another Northern California denizen, the Great White Shark, serves as the spirit-animal inspiration for the retailer’s special 40mm steel DOXA edition.
 

As aquatic apex predators, sharks have been thematically tapped by DOXA in multiple models, but the new DOXA SUB 250 GMT “Great White” Topper Edition takes an even bigger bite.

Similar in features and specs to the Exquisite Timepieces’ above, this Topper Edition is also built around DOXA’s latest SUB 250T GMT, unveiled during this year’s Geneva Watch Week. However, unlike the Exquisite Timepieces limited editions, this piece dives to more ominous depths, thanks to its clean white, high-contrast dial, which emits an aura of bright blue in low-light conditions that envelops the entire dial.
 

Like its cousins above, and since diving usually involves travel, the Topper Edition’s second time-zone GMT function will come in handy. However, this model’s GMT hand is a more traditional thin third hand. Also, the date window on the Exquisite Timepieces limited editions has been removed to maintain a slightly purer dive design (even if your next trip under the waves isn’t inside a protective steel cage).

Released at the end of last week, the DOXA SUB 250T GMT “Great White” Topper Edition is limited to 100 numbered pieces and lists for $2,990.

With its striking combination of a gleaming, foamy green dial set in a 42.5mm jet-black carbon fiber case, the DOXA SUB 300 Carbon Seafoam Limited Edition WOS Exclusive offers a more modern, technical DOXA diving option for Watches of Switzerland customers.
 

Still, the pro-grade features of the SUB 300 – the 300-meter (almost 1,000 feet) depth rating and the compact, spot-on gauging, hand design, and legibility that just cannot be improved on – have not changed since its introduction over half a century ago (if it ain’t broke, right?).

That said, its technical black rubber strap adds more of a dose of stealthy modernity (a dial-color-matched fabric NATO strap is also included for less-moist adventures)
 

Limited to 100 pieces, the DOXA SUB 300 Carbon Seafoam Limited Edition WOS Exclusive retails for $3,990.
