The Young Watchmakers in Sydney

The transition from one season to the next is said to yield the most agreeable weather. And despite hints of spring in La-Chaux-de-Fonds, sun and sand are always a welcome respite from snow and ice. To continue Girard-Perregaux’s Young Watchmakers Tour, two of our youthful charges — Laurine and Lise — jetted down to Sydney, Australia, where a scorching summer is at last easing into autumn. The weather was good enough for them to enjoy Bondi Beach, the famed surfer’s paradise, meander around the harbor to be awed by Jørn Utzon’s Opera House, hop with kangaroos and cuddle koalas. They also found time, of course, to showcase their watchmaking skills to anyone lucky enough to stroll by.
