LVMH Watch Week: Bulgari Releases Three Stunning New Octo Finissimos
Since the Bulgari Octo Finissimo launched in 2014, it has changed the design codes of traditional sports watches and made its mark on the world of watchmaking.
For the second edition of LVMH Watch Week, Bulgari is launching not one but three new versions of the eight-sided ultra-thin, record-breaking timepiece, each keeping with the style and modernity for which the Octo Finissimo is known. With six world records in six years, the Octo Finissimo is the embodiment of avant-garde design and innovation combined with thinness.
Octo Finissimo S Chronograph GMT
This year, Bulgari adds another first in the Octo Finssimo collection, a new blue sunray dial. Accentuated with silver chronograph sub-counters, this panda-like ultra-modern timepiece is set to captivate collectors. Powered by the in-house automatic BVL 318 chronograph calibre, which is only 3.30mm thick, this new timepiece boasts a total thickness of just 8.75mm.
The Octo Finissimo S Chronograph GMT is similar to the other models in the collection. It’s a practical, sporty watch coupled with mechanical complexity. As the model name implies, the mechanism, albeit thin, not only boasts a chronograph, but also has a second time zone on the sub-counter at 3 o’clock as well.
The 43mm steel octagonal case has been satin-polished, adding to the modernity of the timepiece. To ensure the water resistance to 100m, the screw-down crown is larger but still compliments the timepiece nicely. Finally, the Octo Finissimo S Chronograph GMT comes mated to a brushed steel integrated bracelet. The Octo Finissimo S Chronograph GMT is priced at $16,500 and available at Bulgari retailers starting in June 2021.
Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Titanium
Capitalizing on sportier looks, Bulgari introduces a new version of the Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Titanium, but this time with a rubber bracelet and updated dial. This timepiece also marks the first time Bulgari opted for a black opaline dial, taking advantage of its lightweight strength and anti-corrosion properties.
As with the Octo Finissimo S Chronograph GMT discussed above, the new Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Titanium is powered by the BVL 318 in-house movement with a second time zone complication and chronograph function. The textured rubber strap also gives this modern timepiece a more sport-chic appearance.
Unlike the 43mm wide and 8.75mm Octo Finissimo S Chronograph GMT, the GMT Titanium has a diameter of 42mm and a total thickness of just 6.90mm. Plus, its transparent caseback allows the wearer to admire the technicity of the BVL 318, which also boasts an impressive 55-hour power reserve. The watch is water-resistant to 30mm (just shy of 100ft).
The new Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Titanium available now and priced at $17,200.
Octo Finissimo S
While the Octo Finissimo stands out for its use of unusual materials, during the last edition of LVMH watch week, Bulgari introduced the Octo Finissimo Automatic Satin Polished Steel. Although the piece was steel, it had a thinner automatic movement, a water resistance of 100m, and a distinctive black lacquered dial.
This new stainless steel Octo Finissimo S is monochromatic. The 40mm satin-polished case sports a vertically brushed grey dial fitting that makes the perfect complement to the radial brushed bezel. This contemporary take on the Octo Finissimo S is powered by the 2.23mm thick BVL 138 in-house movement with a water-resistance to 100m and a power reserve of 60 hours.
The new Octo Finissimo S is priced at $12,000 and available starting in May 2021.
