Around The World With The New Bvlgari Bvlgari Cities Special Edition 2020

The first Bvlgari Bvlgari timepiece was introduced in 1975 as a limited-edition gift for 100 of Bulgari’s best clients and featured a design that celebrated the brand’s deep connection to its hometown of Rome. Forty-five years on and Bulgari is taking this iconic collection on a voyage to nine different cities across the world.

Nine Urban Destinations

The new Bvlgari Bvlgari Cities Special Edition 2020 comes in nine different versions, each celebrating a special place that has hosted the Italian maison in the past.

Starting with Rome, the collection then crosses the globe to Tokyo, Dubai, Paris, London, Ibiza, Milan, Mexico City, and New York. Like the very first Bvlgari Bvlgari timepiece, these new Cities Special Editions feature the brand’s logo on the bezel along with the name of the city.

Bvlgari’s Love For Cosmopolitan Design

Bulgari’s passion for travel and exploration has always shone through in the design of its creations, from the 1930s Art Deco style that drew upon Ancient Egyptian iconography, to the Japanese and Indian influences of the 1970s and, more recently, the American Pop-Art movement. These new Bvlgari Bvlgari Cities Special Editions 2020 celebrate the cosmopolitan nature of the brand by cherishing nine very special places.

All About The Watch

Each timepiece comes in a 41mm stainless steel case that has been coated with a black DLC treatment and comes with an 18-karat rose gold crown for the ultimate urban look. This black look continues across the black lacquered and grained dial with its rose gold indices. The timepieces are powered by the manufacture BVL 191 automatic caliber that indicates the hours, minutes, and seconds and has a 42-hour power reserve.

The timepieces come with a choice of two interchangeable straps – one in brown calfskin and the other in black leather. They are also delivered in a beautiful black grained leather travel pouch for exploring in style.

Twelve Unique Art Prints

For each of these special limited editions, Bulgari is offering a series of 12 art prints that have been created by young artists who were invited to share their vision of one of the cities and its connection to Bulgari. The choice of 12 prints is a nod to the 12 hours on the dial. The idea behind this is to transmit the strength, power, and emotion of each unique destination.

Bvlgari Bvlgari Cities – Roma

Rome is the beating heart of the Bvlgari Bvlgari Cities Special Editions, coming from the brand’s hometown. Artist Iris Hatzfeld has captured the cinematic splendor of the Eternal City and its golden light and magical textures.

Bvlgari Bvlgari Cities – Dubai

The energy and modernity of Dubai have been captured by artist Vincent Longhi. Using a graphic illustration technique to create his own modern impressionism of this high-tech capital of avant-garde style and sensibility, Longhi shows the limitlessness of the human imagination.

Bvlgari Bvlgari Cities – Paris

Artist Jean Aubertin was commissioned for the Bvlgari Bvlgari Cites Parisian illustrations. Using delicate watercolors to position Paris as Rome’s twin soul, Paris has always been a favorite destination of the brand with its unique architecture and secret spots.

Bvlgari Bvlgari Cities – London

Clémence Trossevin takes a stroll through the streets of London with 12 watercolor scenes of the British capital in the form of a comic strip. Trossevin depicts the British passion for gardens and connection to India with patterns that she uses across her interior scenes.

Bvlgari Bvlgari Cities – Tokyo

Digital artist Faunesque has employed a state-of-the-art technique to show Tokyo’s high-tech façade as well as its traditional side. Bulgari has always been drawn to the city of Tokyo as it is truly a destination for modern urban adventurers.

Bvlgari Bvlgari Cities – Ibiza

This Mediterranean island has been illustrated by Manon Molesti, who has found inspiration in the aquamarine waters of the surrounding sea and the electric nightlife of the island that makes it vibrate like no other. Ibiza combines the best of the Mediterranean lifestyle with an urban music scene.

Bvlgari Bvlgari Cities – Milan

For the Milan editions, Bulgari called upon the artist/architect Vincent Macquart to depict the industriousness of the Italian city of design and innovation. Macquart’s eye for architecture, color, and shape shine through in his 12 illustrations of this urban destination.

Bvlgari Bvlgari Cities – Mexico City

Color is at the heart of Aline Zalko’s illustrations of Mexico City, channeling the vibrancy of this South American city with bold lines and jubilant colors to celebrate the light and textures of this magical place. The spirit of Mexico City aligns beautifully with that of the urban traveler.

Bvlgari Bvlgari Cities – New York

The capital of Pop Art has been recreated by artist Natacha Paschal using rough gouache strokes. Inspired by fashion magazines, she finds inspiration in the larger-than-life cityscapes of the Big Apple and captures all the energy and electricity of this American city.
