Love Is In The Air With The Breguet Reine de Naples Cœur Eternal Love

Breguet presents its latest creation for women and introduces an ingenious new hand in the form of a heart that expands and contracts as it makes its journey around the dial of the oval Reine de Naples case.

A Beating Heart In The Center Of The Dial

The complex mechanism behind this unique heart-shaped hand is protected by four different patents. Positioned off-center at 6 o’clock and composed of two independent arms, which move at different speeds, and an oval-shaped cam, the heart-shaped hand changes form depending on its position on the dial. It transforms thanks to a set of gears that extends it at 12 o’clock and renders it rounder at 6 o’clock, creating an animation of sorts on the dial.

On The Design Side

The timepiece comes in Breguet’s iconic oval case that can trace its roots back to a watch commissioned in 1810 by Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples. The timepiece is noted in Breguet’s archives as model no. 2639 and believed to be the very first wristwatch.

The historically significant piece is noted as having an engine-turned silver dial and several complications, including a minute repeater, a moon-phase indicator, and a thermometer. And affixed to a wristlet of hair and gold thread, it to be worn on the wrist. From its delivery in 1812 to repairs in 1849 and 1855, the Breguet archives kept track of the watch until all trace of it was lost.

The New Breguet Reine de Naples Cœur 9825

The Breguet Reine de Naples Cœur 9825 is housed in an 18-karat gold case set with 128 diamonds on the bezel and inner flange (weighing approximately 0.77 carats) and has a crown set with a cabochon-cut ruby. The sapphire crystal dial is lacquered in white for a clean aesthetic and features Breguet’s stylized Arabic numerals along with an aperture in the center for reading the hours.

Beating at the heart of the timepiece is the brand’s mechanical self-winding movement, the Caliber 78A0, which comprises 252 components and comes with a power reserve of 40 hours.

Touches Of Red For Valentine’s Day

The Breguet logo and numerals 15, 30, 45, and 60 are highlighted in red, as are the hour numerals and minute dots. And there is, of course, the previously mentioned ruby cabochon crown. Additionally, a little red heart sits at the tip of the heart-shaped minute hand as a nod to Valentine’s Day.

Finally, the timepiece is also equipped with an elegant red alligator leather strap with a triple folding buckle adorned with 28 diamonds (approx. 0.17 carats).

Limited to 28 pieces, each timepiece of the collection is individually numbered, signed “Breguet,” and comes together with a vermillion red grained calfskin leather case that can also double as an envelope clutch bag for twice the love on Valentine’s Day!
