When it comes to the love of watches, the Blancpain Saint-Valentin 2021 wears its heart on its sleeve. Actually, to be more accurate, this trés chic timepiece wears its heart on its second hand, but that’s just one of the many details that make this limited edition watch so alluring.

Blancpain has been releasing a Valentine’s Day special edition watch every year since 2001. This year, the brand celebrates its love and respect for female enthusiasts with a limited edition model of the Villeret Women Date: the Blancpain Saint-Valentin 2021.

Her Story

Blancpain has long been a leader when it comes to women’s watches. In 1930, Blancpain introduced the first automatic wristwatch for women. Three years later, Betty Fiechter took the reins of the company, becoming the first woman to head a watchmaking manufacture. Since then, the brand has been a leading innovator in the miniaturization of movements to ensure that the complications in more feminine models met the same standards as those reserved for men.

The stylistic and mechanical aesthetics of the Saint-Valentin 2021 is an excellent example of Blancpain’s devotion to female collectors.

At the heart of this elegant watch is a self-winding Haute Horlogerie movement: the automatic caliber 1151. A variation on the manufacture’s famous 1150, the caliber 1151 features a silicon balance-spring, a four-day (100-hour) power reserve, and a date display. Because its beauty is more than case-deep, you can view the finely decorated works through a sapphire caseback.

Love Story

Founded in 1735, Blancpain is also one of the world’s most enduring watchmakers. And the Villeret collection pays tribute to the company’s timeless traditions: most notably the double-stepped bezel and downturned lugs of the 33.20mm 18k red gold case. Openworked hour and minute hands further accentuate the refinement of this timepiece.

According to Blancpain, the Villeret Saint-Valentin 2021 Women Date is dedicated to lovers. With a new design meant to invoke an airy lightness, the white mother-of-pearl dial suggests an “invitation to soar above the clouds, where Cupid playfully hides from the gaze of those he has struck with his arrow.”

Presented on a rich red alligator leather strap, the watch itself is only 9.15mm thick. But the details provide plenty of depth and counterbalances the inherent delicacy of the dial. Moreover, the dial is encircled by a diamond-set bezel, with extra dazzle supplied by diamond hour markers.

Finally, this watch also has a playful side. Specifically, the crimson heart pierced by the arrow-shaped sweeping second hand, as if loosed by Cupid, himself.

The color, the timeless design, and the excellence of its beating heart all say, “I want to spend a lifetime with you.” Making the 28-piece limited edition Blancpain Saint-Valentin 2021 a wonderful love token.
