The Best Watches At The 2019 Met Gala, Fashion’s "Big Night Out”

Michael B. Jordan, Tom Brady, Nick Jonas, Serena Williams and more sported ultra-luxury watches to the Camp-themed First Monday in May soiree.

It’s been called the Oscars of the fashion industry. Each year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art plays host to a parade of A-listers and the rich and famous. The guests are a virtual who’s who in fashion, music, sports and acting. This year’s theme was Camp: Notes on Fashion. And we’re not talking about summer camp. Attendees dressed in over-the-top ensembles, including Katy Perry dressed as a chandelier. And while most people will be looking at the outrageous fashion, we’re focusing on the watches, of course.

Serena Was A Co-chair, and Wore Audemars Piguet

This year’s co-chairs were Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, Harry Styles, Serena Williams, and Lady Gaga. Serena stepped right up to the horological plate, sporting an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding watch set with a jaw-dropping 860 diamonds. She paired her watch with a brightly colored gown, de Grisogono jewelry, and sported Nike Air Force 1 “Volt” sneakers on her feet. Yes. Sneakers. Husband Alexis Ohanian wore Audemars Piguet’s new 11:59 timepiece, a selfwinding chronograph in rose gold.

Nick Jonas in Bling-y Chopard

Nick Jonas arrived at the gala with his new wife, Pryanka Chopra. He was bedecked in Chopard and a bright white Dior suit. His Chopard jewelry included an elaborate diamond necklace from the “Precious Lace” collection. The real standout was his watch, however, it’s from Chopard’s Imperiale collection and set with 38.3 carats of diamonds.

A-Rod and J-Lo Go Glam In Harry Winston

Alex Rodriguez and fiance Jennifer Lopez went full-on Harry Winston. Alex wore a Harry Winston Ocean Biretrograde 42mm Automatic 18k White Gold Timepiece, and shirt studs from the brand. J-Lo's purple sapphire necklace was a sight to behold.

Michael B. Jordan Rocks Piaget

Michael B. Jordan wore a stunning Piaget Altiplano watch accented with diamonds, and a diamond Piaget Possession ring. Adding sparkle, the Black Panther star wore a studded cowboy-style suit custom made by Stuart Vevers, the creative director of Coach.

Odell Beckham is Edgy in Richard Mille

The Cleveland Browns player stepped out in a sleeveless jacket and kilt by Thom Browne. Yes, he wore a skirt, in full step with the night’s theme. What was on his wrist? None other than a Richard Mille RM 030, fully set with diamonds.

Surprise! Tom Brady wore IWC

Arguably, Tom Brady’s most beautiful accessory is his wife, Gisele. But of course, a watch is not an accessory, but a necessity for collectors. This year he chose a highly complicated watch from IWC, the Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Edition “150 Years” timepiece. Its bold look paired with the sophistication of the complications make for a winning look.

Tada Gaga!

While Lady Gaga went through four outfit changes, not a single one of her looks included a Tudor watch. The Tudor brand ambassador has famously shied away from wearing the namesake brand in public. The 2019 Met Gala was no exception.
